Chapter 217

Xavier gasped for air, the air around him feeling as heavy as a boulder pressing do

down on his chest.

“I can’t die Xavier thought desperately. I’ve fought so hard to get this far, even got my only brother killed. I can’t just die like this.

Maybe it was shoe determination that kept him going, but just as Xavier felt like he was one step away from death, he finally found the medication on him.

After taking the pills, it took a while for him to catch his breath. Only then did he yank the sack off his head.

The dim streetlights flickered in the pitch–black alley. Other than that, there wasn’t even a rat around, let alone another person.

Xavier finally realized he’d been set up.

“Who could it be?” Xavier wondered. ‘Did he just want to rough me up or was there something else going on?

Xavier didn’t dare stick around, afraid that whoever attacked him might double back. He knew he might not get off so easily next time..

When he got back, Xavier didn’t dare tell anyone what had happened. The only thing he could be thankful for was that the attacker had avoided his face. At least on the surface, he looked perfectly fine.

But the pain all over his body made it hard for Xavier to even walk straight

Austin didn’t care what happened to Xavier afterward. He could easily imagine Xavier was angry and frustrated, but didn’t dare make a fuss about it. After teaching Xavier a lesson, there was still another mastermind behind all this, someone who wasn’t from the Bennett Family, Yvonne.

While Austin was scheming how to deal with Yvonne, Emily had caught wind of some movement from Lydia.

After tossing out the bait, Emily had been waiting for Lydia to bite. She hadn’t expected Lydia to keep her cool for this long, holding out until now. But Lydia’s moves just left Emily scratching her head.

There was a sudden large cash withdrawal from Lydia’s account.

Yet once they returned home, the cash had completely vanished as if it had disappeared without a trace

Meanwhile, the people watching Cale reported that he suddenly had a huge amount of cash and was splurging at the casino.

Chapter 217 1

Emily didn’t believe in coincidences. But no matter how hard she dug, there wasn’t a single sign that Lydia and Cale had ever made contact it almost made Emily feel like she was just being paranoid.

Since tailing Lydia wasn’t getting her anywhere, Emily decided to keep a close watch on Cale instead.
