Chapter 225
Lily’s voice was soft, but every word struck clearly, , and it hit Emily hard.
She clenched her hand resting on her knee so tightly that she almost hurt herself, Suddenly, she looked up and caught Lily’s nervous look.
Her sudden glance startled Lily, who quickly lowered her head, acting shy and a bit flustered. Even so, Emily saw hope and excitement hidden in her
Emily was definitely angry after hearing the truth, but she hadn’t lost her head.
Back then, Lily was Yvonne’s most loyal sidekick. Knowing so much about what happened to Quina meant she was far from a mere bystander, Yvonne had quite a few people in her crew, and there was definitely more than one person bullying Quim
Emily was no longer the naive girl of the Bennett family she used to be. She saw through Lily’s desperate move to shove all the blame onto one. Lily was not only to distance herself but also to use her as a tool against Yvonne.
Holding back her anger, Emily pulled out a photo from her pocket. “Take a good look, is this Quiana
Tima helped find the photo, and Emily confirmed it was the same girl she had once seen jump from the rooftop.
She had to be certain Quiana was the one she was looking for. She hoped Zack’s sister was alive, even though the chance was slim. She couldn’t bear for his last wish to remain unfulfilled.
y studied the photo closely, then nodded with certainty. “Yeah, that’s Quiana”
At that instant, whatever faint hope Emily had left inside her was crushed, and her hand trembled a little. The cold coffee spilled onto the back of her hand, feeling like a sharp pain deep inside.
Lily couldn’t help but speak up. “I heard from teachers before that several prestigious universities reached out to Quiana. She had a bright future. She just needed to get through the SAT.
“However, Yvonne deliberately ruined Quiana’s test and destroyed her life. She made Quiana kill herself.”
Emily pursed her lips with a blank face. Lily was right. Quiana had been driven to her death by Yvonne, but Yvonne wasn’t the only one responsible.
She stared at Lily closely before suddenly asking, “I thought you and Yvonne used to be really close. Why do you seem to hate her so much?!
Lily got nervous and dropped her head even lower, not saying a word. It looked like she was holding something back.
After a brief silence, Emily cut straight to the heart of the matter. “You never asked how I know Quina or why I’m looking for her. You just jumped to saying Yvonne pushed her to her death.
“Are you trying to use me to get back at Yvonne?”
Lily tensed up instantly, clearly caught off guard by the accusation,
Seeing this, Emily pressed on. “Why do you hate Yvonne so much? I heard she helped the Norris family pay off debts when debt collectors showed up Shouldn’t you be grateful to her?”
With things laid bare, Lily had no reason to hide anymore. She snorted and said, “It wasn’t just the Norris family. Check out the people who stuck with Yvonne back then. None ended up better off than me, some worse.”
