Chapter 277

Austin glanced at the clock. It was just past three in the morning, still hours before dawn.

He knew Emily had been worried sick about Charles these past few days, but this was a crazy time to go.

He wanted to tell her to get some rest and wait until daylight, but the look in her eyes made him change his mind.

He thought, ‘Since it’s the same hospital and not far away, a quick visit might help put Emily at ease!

But just as they stepped out of the room, a nurse came running up, her face pale with panic. “S-Something’s happened to

Charles.”

Boom. In that instant, Emily felt like something exploded in her mind. She swayed unsteadily, and Austin quickly reached. out to steady her.

Before he could say a word to comfort her, Emily shook off his hand and stumbled out of the room.

By the time she arrived, Charles had already been rushed into the operating room. The bodyguard on duty stood at the door, his face pale. When he saw Emily, he lowered his head guiltily. “M-Ms. Harper.”

“What happened?” Emily’s expression was icy. She fought to stay calm, but her hands were clenched together so tightly that her nails nearly broke the skin.

Austin noticed and quickly stepped forward, taking her hands in his, letting her squeeze him as hard as she needed.

The bodyguard’s face was still pale, his expression full of regret. “It was Ms. Bennett. She went into the room, and less than an hour later, Mr. Bennett had an incident.”

Emily trembled, but she wasn’t surprised by the answer. Instead, she felt a surge of anger. “I specifically told you not to let anyone near Grandpa Charles. Why did you let her in?”.

The bodyguard, who was usually so well-trained that he wouldn’t even flinch with a gun to his head, couldn’t stop his hands from shaking now. “I-I don’t know what happened. It was like I was possessed. I just let her in.”
