Chapter 280
Chapter 280
Noticing how hoarse her voice was, Austin answered as he handed her the glass of warm water he’d kept ready for her. Emily
didn’t refuse.
After taking a sip to soothe her throat, she asked, “Did you check the security cameras?”
She knew what Austin was like; he’d probably started looking into it the moment she passed out.
There wasn’t a single blind spot on this floor’s security cameras. With Lydia and the bodyguard each telling a different story, all they had to do was check the cameras to see who was lying.
Austin had already started investigating, but he figured Emily would be lost in her grief for a long time, so he didn’t bring her the results just yet.
However, Emily turned out to be way tougher than he’d thought.
Even though he hadn’t brought the files, Austin was totally up to speed. “We already checked the security cameras. Lydia doesn’t show up on any of the footage.
“I even had an expert check it out, and there’s no sign anyone messed with the recordings. It looks like the bodyguard’s lying, but I’ve checked out his background and there’s nothing suspicious about him.”
Bob personally handpicked this group of bodyguards, and they’d been with Charles for six or seven years. They were totally trustworthy, the last people one would expect to mess up.
But the investigation had hit a dead end. No matter whom they looked into, nothing seemed off about anyone.
Emily hadn’t expected that things would turn out like this, either. But she refused to believe Lydia was innocent.
Everything had started because of those photos circulating online, and those photos were tied to Cale. There was absolutely no way Lydia could wash her hands of this,
Emily asked, “Did you find out where Lydia was that night?”
Austin knew she wouldn’t let go of her suspicions about Lydia, so he said, “The Bennett Family’s security cameras show she really didn’t leave the house that night, and there’s no footage of her at the hospital either.
“But I’m still checking any surveillance footage along the way.”
It was a huge amount of work, so there hadn’t been any new progress yet.
Emily knew this wasn’t going to be easy.
