Chapter 284
Chapter 284
There didn’t seem to be any connection between these two things, but maybe because of what happened at the funeral, even if it was just a random coincidence, Emily clung to it for dear life and refused to let go.
Digging deeper, Emily actually found proof that Lydia had crossed paths with that donor.
It was just a chance encounter at the same restaurant, where their tables happened to be next to each other, so they ended up chatting for a few minutes.
But on the very same day after that meal, the donor had someone look into the driver’s background.
Only after that did he personally call to offer the donation, and the driver got so agitated that he ran a red light and crashed into Bob’s car.
Emily didn’t believe in such coincidences, especially when Lydia was involved. She barely hesitated before making up her mind. “I’m going to meet this donor.”
Emily never wasted time once she set her mind to something. She bought the earliest flight she could get that day with no
hesitation at all.
Austin had never tried to stop her from doing anything before, but seeing the state she was in now, he just couldn’t let her go alone. He booked a ticket to go with her.
But before the two of them could even step out the door, someone showed up at their place first.
The man looked to be in his forties, with a stern expression and meticulously groomed appearance.
After taking a seat, he handed over a business card and introduced himself. “Ms. Harper, I am the lawyer personally appointed by Charles. As per his instructions, I was to come find you only after his funeral.”
The lawyer was all business, pulling several documents from his briefcase and laying them out on the table.
He began, “These are the properties under Charles’s name, all the funds in his accounts, the staff he personally employed and could assign, as well as his 20% stake in the Bennett Group.
