Chapter 18
that moment, Kyen brought out the meal he had laboriously prepared, which looked burnt
He woumbously glared at Jane, hoping for a reaction, but when he got nothing he started looking for Xena.
“Where did Xena por die asked.
Jane and Jurkon were will focused on their own food and didn’t pay attention to him.
Molly seemed unsure about what to say, While Emily replied with an anxious tone, “She had a small argument with Janie
She quickly wedded. “But Jason went after her, so it should be fine”
Ryan’s expression darkened right away–matching his burnt dishes.
He gritted his teeth and accused, “Janie! Why did you pick on Xena?”
He couldn’t understand why Janie still held such a grudge against Xena after all these years.
If she went back to the Jenkins, it’s bound to cause more trouble.
The thought alone gave him a headache.
Janie was about to respond as she put down her fork when Jackson jumped in, “Are you serious? Janie didn’t bully Xena, it’s Zena who always messes up with Janie. Don’t be so one side.”
Jackson’s outburst surprised Ryan.
He was confused. Jackson was not talkative before, how come he was so offensive?”
If Jackson had caught Ryan’s thought, he would be proud to say that he had a lead on his sister.
Ryan’s expression darkened even more. “Stop talking nonsense! Xena is a simple girl. Even if she messed up, she didn’t
mean to “
Jackson had heard enough of the “simple girl” and “didn’t mean to” excuses.
With a fake smile plastered on his face, he replied, “Alright, alright, whatever you say.
“Go comfort your sister quickly. It’s time for her to try your cooking masterpiece. But isn’t she worried about you? Why is she letting you cook?”
Jackson pretended to be puzzled as his acting skills hit their peak.
Fuming with anger, Ryan turned to leave.
“Wait, Emily stood up. “I’ll go with you.”
“You young ones shouldn’t always be at each other’s throats,” she chided as she followed him.
I totally love how blunt Jackson is. But he’ll get himself into trouble.]
[Ryan is overly protective. It was Xena who started confronting others first. He’s being partial.]
[Are you serious? It’s obvious Janie and Jackson are being aggressive! They need to check their attitude towards their seniors.]

Chapter 18
[You seriously can’t tell right from wrong?
Jackson felt a wave of boredom wash over him.
Janie gently said, “It’s fine.”
Jackson nodded and began enjoying his meal.
Eating his boiled duck and looking at the delicacies, David was naturally tickled out of his cravings.
Thinking of Jackson’s words carlier, he had to hold back.
Only when they were almost done did Xena and the others come back.
Xena’s eyes were red but seemed calmer now.
Next to her stood Jason with a smile on his face.
Ryan pressed his lips together, clearly not happy.
Meanwhile, Emile smiled sympathetically.
“Xena, hurry up and eat,” Ryan said.
Xena nodded and followed him to the table.
But as soon as she saw the meal, her expression dropped.
Ryan felt a bit embarrassed too.
Jason chuckled and said, “It’s not bad. It’s Mr. Jenkins‘ first time cooking, after all. Come join us instead.”
Molly chimed in, “Yeah, there’s some left. Come eat with us.”
Jason glanced at what was left on the table and was momentarily speechless.
There was little food left on the table, except that the words had been spoken and he couldn’t back out of them.
Seeing this awkwardness unfold, Emily suggested they share David’s boiled duck.
David wasn’t thrilled about that.
The boiled duck wasn’t exactly a gourmet meal but he had put effort into making it. He didn’t expect it to turn into Emily’s charity case.
Since things were already like this, he kept quiet about it.
[I have to say that Ryan has no talent for cooking. Nobody is perfect. That makes me feel better!]
[But Jackson is perfect. He’s handsome, treats his sister well, and can cook.]
The looks on their faces are priceless! Ryan: Embarrassed. I’m a worse cook than Jackson. Xena: It’s grossed out but I have to hold it back. Jason: Wait, do I have to share the little food I have with them? David: Eat my boiled duck without asking me?]
[Holy, you’ve got some serious mind–reading]
Seeing Jackson start cleaning up the dishes. David quickly went to help him.”

Chapter 18
Janie sat quietly, pulled out a book, and started to read
Emily couldn’t help but voll her eyes.
She had seen far too many people brag about how much they loved reading, only to completely fail at it. She thought Jante was so clueless.
Nena took a bite of the burnt dish and felt nothing but bitterness in her mouth.
She forced herself not to show how grossed out she was and smiled instead, saying. “It’s your first time cooking, Ryan. It’s already pretty good.”
Ryan was in a bad mood, even Xena’s compliment didn’t cheer him up.
He felt like he was lagging way behind Jackson. He didn’t want to be outdone.
Noticing Ryan ignoring her, Xena pursed her lips in disappointment.
Jason saw this and tossed a piece of boiled duck into Xena’s bowl.
She looked at him surprised while he gave her a gentle smile, making her shyly lower her head.
Emily walked over to Janie with her bowl. “Why are you just reading by yourself? That’s so lonely, Come chat with us.”
Janie glanced away from his book and replied casually, I’m not lonely. Leave me alone.”
Then Xena piped up suddenly, Janie, you seem to love books. I have a huge study room. How about a visit to my place next time?”
Ryan couldn’t help but glance at Janie.
After all these years, Janie’s room was still untouched.
Janie kept her cool as usual and said flatly, “Don’t bother, my study is big too.”
Xena sighed sadly, “Well.”
[Isn’t Janie trying way too hard to create an image? The last one who tried to project an image of being a book lover and failed was laughed at for many years.]
[Maybe she loves to read. I think she gives off the vibe that she comes from a literary family].
[Dude, that’s too much. Why don’t you say she is a fairy?]
[Janie is so out of place.]
[Their aura doesn’t match. Why must they force themselves to fit together? Janie was quietly reading by herself. It’s reasonable for her to refuse, and she didn’t do anything else.]
