Xena was secretly scornful, but still managed to force a smile on her face and said, “Alright, I’ll lend you some money. But like I said, most of the money is with my brothers, so I can only lend you a little.”
Jason and Emily were all grateful on their faces.
Noah, who had just put down his phone, looked at these three people with disgust.
“What a bunch of people with their own ulterior motives,‘ he thought.
‘If I hadn’t been forbidden to barbecue for Miss Janie, I wouldn’t want to lay eyes on these three repulsive guys!
Noah kept sighing to himself.

While grilling the meat, Jackson served it to Janie from time to time.
Janie began to relish the meat that Jackson had cooked.
The moment the grilled meat touched her lips, she couldn’t help but praise. “Jackson, your cooking skills have improved
even more.”
Jackson tried to suppress the joy in his heart and put on a solemn expression like a master chef. “You’re overpraising me. It’s the barbecue sauce you picked that really made the difference.”
Janie nodded and said, “The sauce is indeed important too.”
Jackson fell silent.
He was waiting for Janie to compliment him a few more times, but his wait was in vain.
He looked at Janie with a pleading look in his eyes.
However, Janie was so absorbed in enjoying the grilled meat that she didn’t notice him at all. Then an idea popped into Jackson’s head. He picked up the grilled meat and showed them off ostentatiously to Noah.
Noah was gnashing his teeth with anger.
You, Jackson, who always claims to be Miss Janie’s elder brother, why are you always so childish?’
But Noah found his own way to let off steam. He took to the group chat on his phone and passed on all his negative feelings to his buddies.
And sure enough, his buddies were riled up by him.
They were itching to come over, take him down, and snatch his position as Miss Janie’s chief retainer right out from under him.
Now, a smug, schadenfreude smile spread across Noah’s face.
The tantalizing aroma lured Molly over. “Your grilled meat looks really good,” she said.
Janie let out a light chuckle. “Jackson’s always had such great skills,” she replied.
And Jackson’s pride was plain as day on his face.

Chapter 99
David asked, a bit petulantly, “Janie, could you spare me some of your barbecue sauce?”
Janie said, “Jackson’s the head chef here.”
David looked over at Jackson, but all he saw was the haughty back of a chef.
“Well, Mr. Moore, may I get some?” David asked.
Jackson cast a haughty glance at him like a real master chef. “Alright, just a little.”
He doled out only a tablespoon’s worth to David.
But David was content with that.
‘Of course, Jackson wouldn’t be willing to share Janie’s stuff with others,‘ he thought.
‘Hey, I saw that coming.

The Jenkins brothers focused all their attention on finishing the barbecue, determined to redeem themselves. In the end, the results they got were pretty decent.
After handing the grilled meat to Xena, Ryan paused for a long time of thought, then took some meat and went to find Janie.
Xena’s eyes turned icy cold.
‘Sure enough, as long as Janie’s around, the Jenkins family will drive me out sooner or later,‘ she thought.
Janie was a bit taken aback when she saw Ryan’s actions.
Ryan’s thoughts were in a jumble too, and he didn’t know what to say.
Once upon a time, when the Jenkins family finally welcomed a daughter, they’d doted on Xena as much as they could.
But that love and affection should have been for Janie.
And now, the Jenkins family was still sheltering Xena while Janie had been wandering around, suffering.
Thinking of this, the corners of Ryan’s eyes grew moist, and he was on the verge of crying.
Seeing Ryan’s expression, Janie’s eyes trembled at the corners too.
Jackson quickly stepped in front of Janie and said menacingly to Ryan, “Stay away from my sister!”
Ryan clenched his fists tightly, grinding his teeth.
He was dying to shout out to everyone that Janie was actually his sister.
His own flesh and blood!
But he couldn’t say those words.
Whether it was because of the big mistake he’d made in the past or for the sake of the Jenkins family’s reputation, he just couldn’t say it.
Ryan forced himself to calm down. “I just wanted Janie to try our barbecue too,” he said.
Then he added, “I also wanted to make amends for some misunderstandings from before. I don’t expect your forgiveness, but I hope you’ll accept my apology gift.”
