Chapter 61
Nivea really had to stop taking him for a fool. They both knew the women knew exactly who she was, and they insulted her because of him.
“The truth, Nivma, Alejandro demanded.
“Fine, they knew who I was, and they said horrible things about me,” she stated
“They told me I was a slut, and when i tried to avoid a confrontation, they slapped me.”
His eyes hardened, as he still wasn’t satisfied with her answer.
“Tell me every detail She did–voice small, fractured but he heard.
At the end, she looked at him, broken. “And, no, I don’t know their names”
He took a breath and nodded without saying anything, and that scared her, as it was never a good thing if Alejandro was quiet.
“Alejandro, they only called me names and slapped me, Please do not kill them.”
It was very important to say that, as seen what happened when he said he was going to take care of Nathaniel, she did not want the same thing to happen, as the offences were even different and not as grievous as what Nathaniel did
“I will find out,” he said softly. “I won’t kill them, but make them wish they were dead. “No one, not even me, touches you,” be declared
His words sent a tremor through her. How was he able to say such words casually?
Didn’t he realize the affects they had on her?
He stared at her like he’d memorized her pain, like the pain was his. Despite her wamings to her stupid heart, the thing kept on pounding in her chest over his words and actions.
“Rest assured, But their lives… they’ll be retribution.”
“Do you really have to go that far?” Nivera asked. “My mom already handled it”
“Yes, I have to was his simple final answer, one that left no room for arguments
He then slid the ice off her face and placed it on the counter. “There’s a first aid kit in your room. Take some meds for the pain–Tylenol and ice will help.” His tone was businesslike.
She nodded again, voice thin. “Thank you.”
He leaned down, touching her swollen check once again, observing if the swelling had gone down,
She felt the warmth of his palm, then the shift of his presence.
They lingered an almost–reach apart before he pulled back, stopping sideways.
And just like that, the atmosphere in the room changed, and so did his expression as it became light and teasing
“What?” She probed when she noticed him squirting his eyes at her
“You clearly orchestrated this to ruin your appearance. Because you wanted an excuse to stay home tonight, didn’t you?”
Her eyes widened, “What? No. Why would do such a thing?”
The way Alejandro would go from making her heart pound for him to making her want to murder needed to be studied.

They both knew that nothing she did would get het out of attending the function, so why did he even ask such a damb question, f
“Hmmm, it’s good to see you’re learning.” Alejandro remarked, and he patted her head like she was a good le child.
She shook her head to get his hand off of her. “You can’t just…..
She couldn’t finish her words, as he had already tuned and was heading out of the kitchen.
