Secret Wife Real Billionaire (by Ela) novel Chapter 298

"How do you know we aren’t a good match?" Marcelo scoffed.

Her words seemed perplexing to him.

“Aren't we facing obstacles now? This obstacles proves that.” Renee sighed.

Marcelo stayed silent, his expression icy.

After a while, he inquired, "So if I ask Vivian to leave Harvillston, will you stop making a fuss?"

“I'm not making a fuss!" Renee’s tone escalated in agitation. "Marcelo, that's not what I want! Don't you understand? If you don't, then you can't give it to me!"

“Renee, how can I know if you don't explain it to me?" Marcelo frowned.

What was it that she yearned for but couldn't receive from him?

Her lips were pressed tight as she faced him.

She wanted him to love her, to cherish her, to be solely hers.

But could that ever be reality?

She had dropped hints, questioned his jealousy, yet he remained unresponsive.

She offered him countless opportunities to choose her, but his choice was always Vivian.

Before Renee came to know him, it was Vivian who shared a childhood with him.

Renee refused to belittle herself any further.

She needed to maintain some self-respect in her one-sided love.

“Marcelo, I need to go have dinner. I'm leaving now." She attempted to loosen his grip, finger by finger, her face set in a mask of determination.

But her strength was no match for his, her efforts were futile.

His grip only tightened, the tension between them rising.

“Marcelo, let go of me!" Renee’s anger boiled over, her words sharp and clear.

“You repulse me!" Abruptly, he released her.

The Maybach's rear door stood open. The man inside, usually so self-assured and composed, was struck with confusion.

Renee walked over to Howard, who was under the pomegranate tree, and then the two of them disappeared from Marcelo’s view.

Luke, noticing Marcelo’s lack of movement, carefully shut the car door.

“Luke, what did Renee mean by that?" Marcelo’s voice was tinged with bewilderment.

Luke felt a chill. "I...I didn't hear what she said just now. I was distracted."

How could he admit hearing Renee call him disgusting?

That would be akin to courting disaster.

Over their months of marriage, Marcelo had grown to understand her character.

While she might have a temper occasionally, she wasn't one to insult others without cause.

Had she really thought he was disgusting?

Marcelo was at a loss. He hadn't been unfaithful, so why would Renee express such repulsion? Confused, he pondered over her words.

“Sir, there's news about your mother."

Suddenly, Luke interrupted his thoughts.

He had checked his email and had something to share. "Your mother didn't take her medication yesterday. It was found under her pillow, and she confessed to hiding it. Also, your grandfather visited her earlier."

Marcelo had been investigating Jessica’s recent health decline, suspecting foul play with her medication.

Marcelo, burdened by guilt for not fully honoring his brother’s wish, felt compelled to care for Vivian even more.

Wyatt sympathized with Kaiden's predicament. It was as though his brother had left him with two burdensome legacies.

However, he couldn't reason out to a dead man!

“Renee and I are not getting a divorce!" Marcelo stressed this to Wyatt and ended the call.

Turning to Luke, he commanded, "Back to the office."

His decision to return to work amidst the chaos of his personal life puzzled Luke, who dared not question it.

In the secretarial office, Marcelo walked in, his face stern as he called out, "Miss Graves, follow me."

Nina Graves, without another word, followed Marcelo into the office. She tried to recall if she had fumbled any of her tasks.

“Have you been monitoring the news about my personal affairs?" He asked abruptly.

“Yes, Mr. King."

“Then what about this?" Marcelo queried, displaying the rumors about him and Vivian on his tablet. "I am learning from others about my supposed impending joyous event."

The rumors had consistently been among the top trending topics online.

“I...I..." Nina, visibly shaken, struggled to speak. Her pallid face betrayed her awareness of the rumors, yet she had chosen to remain silent.

“You have one minute. Explain!" Marcelo’s expression hardened.

He rarely indulged in smartphone apps beyond work essentials, even downloading W******p solely for Renee.

To him, online rumors and trivial news were nothing but distractions.

Prior to his marriage, Marcelo’s knowledge of social media was very limited, and even then, he had barely used any, only encountering it through Luke’s reports about Renee.

Following an earlier rumor involving him and Vivian, Marcelo had tasked Nina, his secretary overseeing public relations, with monitoring any personal news about him.
