Chapter23.
I waited for her to finish. My gaze was clear and cold.“Where’s your superiority? Is it your. possession of a brain incapable of even playing tic–tac–toe? Or is it your treasuring of my discarded belongings? Or perhaps feeling self–satisfied for taking over a job I no longer wanted?
And your ‘circle of men and women….who’s ‘we‘?
You spend all day doing nothing but having sex like some kind of low class animal, engaging in such filthy y acts. I won’t enter this stinky circle of animals; you and Jason can lock yourselves up together.
My tone was mild, yet my words were pure venom.
Tanner was enraged; she was so angry she was practically smoking. Her young face contorted into a grotesque
mask. As I spoke, she began to scream, “Shut your mouth! I’ll rip your mouth. out! I’ll kill you!” Finally, she transformed to a wolf and jumped up from the chair, lunged towards me, and tried to slap me.
I stood unmoved. Just as she was about to reach me, I forcefully slammed the documents in her face, sending her tumbling, her nose bleeding. Although I was an omega, I was not as weak as
Tanner.
“Handover complete. I wish you success in destroying Horizon Group.”
With that, I turned and left.
“Sophia Wells, I won’t let you get away with this, AAAAAAHHH!!!”
Tanner clutched her nose, her crazed screams threatening to shake the entire building. No one from the project department dared approach her.
After leaving the office, I walked a short distance before my team cautiously approached, showering me with concern and sympathy.
Mandy Brooks, the head of Team Three, braved the pressure to enter the office, gather my belongings, and carefully retrieve the items from the trash can, wiping them clean before putting them in boxes. “Sophia, let me help you take these downstairs.”
Seeing her, my heart warmed, and my eyes welled up. Although this was the darkest moment of my life, there was still some light.
“Okay.”
I replied with a smile.
The project department members saw me off to the elevator, and Mandy helped me carry my belongings downstairs. Before leaving, I told Mandy, “Tell everyone to do their job, don’t antagonize Ms. Cooper. Hopefully, she’ll get bored and leave on her own. Also, if anything goes wrong with the project under her watch, report it directly to Jason. Don’t wait for her to shift the blame onto you; you won’t be able to handle the consequences of a multi–million dollar project going wrong. If Jason knows it’s her fault, he’ll figure out a way to deal with it.”

Mandy nodded. “I will.”
I hugged her.“Stay in touch.”
As I drove away from Horizon Group, it started to rain, each drop adding to my melancholy.
Nine days left. It’ll be over soon.
