“Sophia, please don’t say that. It’s my fault this time, I shouldn’t have let alone. If something had happened to you…” Zane felt extremely guilty.

Before he finished speaking, he felt a chill down his neck.

Jason stared at him with a dark face, full of warning through his wolf: Sophia? Dare you call her any more intimately?

Zane quickly shut his mouth. He didn’t want to be splattered with blood.

“My partner is seriously injured and needs a long time to recover. She can’t handle the position of secretary. Mr. Shaw, please find someone else,” Jason said.

What seriously injured? What right does he have to make decisions for me?

I was about to retort angrily when Anna quickly said, “Since her husband has said so, let’s not force her. Xander, I’ll come back to the company to be your secretary.”

I was stunned. Jason’s sabotage was one thing, but why was Anna also trying to seize the opportunity? And this was after I’d given her a way out, preventing her from being embarrassed in front of Xander because of what happened last night… Wasn’t this a case of biting the hand that fed her?

Xander’s expression was unreadable. His deep, striking eyes, which had been warm a moment ago, had turned dark and brooding. His aura turned to aggressive slowly, put more sense of oppression. He didn’t look at anyone else, only at me:“Do you want to resign?”

“Of course not!” I answered without hesitation. Forget that I was about to sever the bond with Jason; even if I weren’t, he had no right to decide for me.

Jason’s face was livid. Anna also glared at me with icy anger. Xander, however, had a hint of amusement in the corners of his eyes. The pressure I felt immediately lifted. “That’s good.”

He glanced at his watch, then looked up.“The doctor said your leg injury will take at least a week to heal. You can choose to go back to MoonCloud Pack to recover. I’ll arrange a private plane to send you back first?”

“No need to send me back separately. Let’s go back together,” I quickly said. Having him send a private jet just for me was… a bit inappropriate.

“Fine, let’s go back together.” Xander’s smile deepened.

Then he told me to rest well and left with Zane. Anna still had something to say to me, but seeing Xander leave, she hesitated for a few seconds and went after him. Before she left, she glared at me angrily.

I really didn’t know what to say. I could see that any female creature near Xander was a potential rival in Anna’s eyes.

“Sophia, you were flirting with him right in front of me. Do you think I’m dead?!”
