His Unwanted Gamma novel Chapter 55

Chapter 55

Elara’s POV

Thad to talk to Triss.

Triss was the key to unraveling everything Garron had done his best to silence hertreating her like a tool to be used and discardedbut I know there was more to her than she let on. She had helped Garren, sure, but she was also the one he trusted enough to bring to the first betweenpacks competition. And even when Garren had stepped away, he had trusted her to fill in as the substitute trainer

That trust meant something. Garron’s diety dealings had to involve her somehow. The question wasn’t whether she knew something, it was whether she’d be willing to tell me. Triss wasn’t exactly forthcoming

Triss had this air about herguarded, careful, teed. Garron had a hold on her. I knew it. The way she cowered under his gaze, never during to daly him, even when he blamed her for the mad bear incident. Whatever grip he had on her was strong, and I needed to figure out what it wi

I stood outside her room, my hand hovering over the door. I knocked softly, almost cautiously, but got no response. Not that I expected one

I knocked again, louder this time.

And then, I heard itthe soft shuffle of footsteps on the other side, followed by a voice, tense and guarded, Who’s there?

It’s me,I said,

id, leaning in, trying to make my voice gentle. Elara. From the Blood Moon Pack. Can we talk?

A pause. And then she responded, wary, I don’t think there’s anything we can talk about

Great. This wasn’t going as planned.

But I wasn’t going to let up. I grabbed the doorknob, holding it firmly. Give me a chance, Triss. Just a minute. This is important. You don’t even need to come out. We can talk through the door if that’s what you want.

There was a long silence, and for a moment, I thought she might just slam the door in my face. But thenslowlythe door cracked open just a little, just enough to reveal the sharp edge of her face..

What do you want?she asked, her voice low, still wary

You weren’t at the training field today,I said, my tone softening. heard Garron replaced you with Owen. But you were doing great with the soldiers what happened?

Triss’s eyes flinched slightly. She averted her gaze, almost as though she could pretend this wasn’t a conversation worth having, Gamma Garren felt Owen was a better fit than me. It’s fine, really, I was just filling in temporarily.

I couldn’t hold it in. Nonsenselpractically barked, my frustration slipping through. We both know that’s a load of crap. You’ve seen Owen, right? The guy can barely raise his arms without looking like a gorilla trying to throw a punch. And you’re telling me he’s a better fit for the soldiers than you?

Triss’s face paled, and for a brief moment, I thought I saw something flicker in her eyesregret, maybe?-but then it was gone, replaced by that same guarded silence-

This is Direstone Pack’s issue, not yours, she said, her voice wavering You’re from the Blood Moon Pack. This doesn’t concern you.

The door started to close, and in that instant, something inside me snapped. I stepped forward, forcing my foot between the do and the frame before

she could shut me out

Triss, this is an alliance,I said, my voice ser now, almost pleading, We’re supposed to fight side by side, I can’t just sit back while someone as capable as you gets pushed aside for idiots like Garron and Owen. It’s wrong.

Her lips pressed together, her breath shaky I could see the internal struggle on her face. She wanted to shut me out, but something was stopping her.

I looked at her, searching for any crack I could break through. What happened to your armı?

Her sleeve had rolled up as she’d tried to shut the door, revealing dark bruises on her skinrecent brunes

Triss froze, her face draining of color. She yanked the sleeve down quickly, but it was too late.

Don’t bother covering it up,” I said, my voice low and firm. I saw it. You don’t have to pretend.

She was shaking, her lips pressed tight, but she didn’t respond right away.

I get it,I said, my tone softer now. It’s not easy standing up to Gamon, Tye been there. But you can do it, Triss. You have a chance to make things right.

Her eyes welled up with tears she refused to let tall. She looked at me for a long moment, and then, finally, she spoke. What do you want from me?

Her voice was raw, the fight gone out of her, I couldn’t leave her like this. Not after everything she’d been through,

I don’t want to put you back in the training field,I said. But we both know Garron won’t let that happen. You’ve been sidelined for far too long

She seemed to retreat further into hersell, her shoulders tensing as if bracing for another blow.

That’s why we can’t let Garron keep calling the shots,” I said, stepping closer. We need to take him down.”

Ther’s widened. She took a sharp breath. You’re insane, she muttered, her voice barely above a whisper, Do you even know who he is?

He’s the son of a respected warrior,I replied, my voice steely, but that doesn’t give him the right to corrupt your army. We can’t let him keep running things. Even your Alpha is with me on this

Triss was still shaking her head, her lips trembling. Garron’s too respected. You can’t just-

I cut her off. That’s why we need to show everyone that he doesn’t deserve that respect. And you can help us do that

She stared at me, eyes wide with disbelief, but then I brought up the one thing I knew would get her attention.

Wlpha Thome told me about the account bookthe one that documents all of Carron’s secret deals if you know where it is-

Triss snapped NO!She snarled, her fear and anger bubbling to the surface. Forget it! I’m not giving you that account book!

Her eyes burned with a mixture of fear and fury, but I wasn’t about to back down.

*Calm down,I said, trying to reason with her. We can work this out. We can

she interrupted,

pted, her voice hard now, almost desperate. I’m done. Goodbye

No, she

With a sudden force, she slammed the door in my face.

I stopped back just in time to avoid being hit.

And I stared at the closed door, a brown tugging at my lips.

So there was an account book. Triss knew where it was. That much was certain.

But why had she reacted so strongly to it? What had Gaon done to her?
