Chapter 49
Alcee was surprised by Torq’s words, and she shook her head in amazement as she looked at Susana and Amal.
Before she could address it any further however, a knock on the door and Genevra was poking her head in.
“Sir, Don Bianchi and his brother are here to see you. They are escorted by Mr. Burgess and Tank.”
“Please let them in.” Torq commented and shot Alcee an annoyed look when she tried to scramble off his lap. “Stay”
“Are you kidding me? No. I don’t want to stay here when they come in. My father who I don’t respect is one thing but not these two men who I consider like uncles.”
Her face was flaming red when the four men came into the room. The quirked eyebrow of Don Bianchi, the uncle of her best friends, made her squirm with humiliation as Torq kept his beefy forearm around her waist.
“Gentlemen, I apologize for not getting up. My fiancée is looking to make a run for it and if I let her off my lap, she’s going to burrow herself between the twins or run back to her office and I’m not ready to let her go yet. I spent too many years trying to track her down and I find 1 quite like having her close.”
Don Natale Bianchi gave a chuckle. “When I married my wife, I locked her in our house and didn’t let her leave for six months. She hated my guts, and 1 needed to convince her I wasn’t the fucking devil.”
“You were the fucking devil,” the father of the twins, Orazio snorted. “You brought her to a new country. She couldn’t speak a lick of English. You had your dick out more than your hand.”
“She liked my dick. She’d tell you to this day the only reason she didn’t simply kill herself was because she liked my dick.”
*Ex!* Amal and Susana both groaned together.
Natale winked at his nieces, “someday a man will love you the way I love my wife, and you will understand.”
“I sure as hell hope not. Susana folded her arms over her chest. “I would have stabbed you in the neck and lived.”
“She did stab him in the thigh with a pen knife.” Orazio snorted. “I sewed him back up and put him back in the ring
“I will ask you not stab me in the neck or the thigh, my love, Torg teased her with a tug of her ponytail.
“Don’t piss me off then”

“Your wish is my command. Well, except I want you to listen to every instruction I give and do as you are told.” At her huff he chuckled, “all for your own protection.”
“She has been too long without protection Natale commented seriously. “Speaking of, I saw her father and brother leaving. They look quite
furious.”
“I imagine a hit has been put on my very large head. Torq laughed lowly. “Don Mariani was not appreciative of the knowledge I was going to marry his daughter but not pay him the bride price.”
“I imagine your news was delivered with tact and grace?” the men in the room all laughed at Natale’s question.
“Not even remotely.” Torq made a face. “He saw her on my lap and knew what it signifies and still acted a fool.”
“What does it signify?” Alore whispered suddenly.
Natale and Orazio exchanged glances. “Your father has never held his wife on his lap during a business meeting. Alcee?”
“No. Not in a million years. She wouldn’t even be allowed in the room if there was business. He was fiercely jealous and if a man even looks at her sideways, he’ll blow their head off. It makes more sense for to simply not be there than to murder a room full of associates.”
“I am not following. He would shoot prople who looked at your mother?”
“He once shot the mailman for looking too long at her. Killed him right on the front stairs. I was riding my bike in the driveway.”
