The girls chatted while fixing their makeup.

overtime with me for two hours to make up for the lost time.”

The employees finally started gossiping among themselves.

“Can you believe Mr. Murphy’s a total workaholic?” one of them muttered.

“The new boss just has to make a statement,” another complained.

“Ugh, overtime is the worst,” someone else groaned.

“Ahem!” Just then, the assistant cleared his throat.

Everyone fell silent immediately.

He continued, “Starting this month, per Mr. Murphy’s orders, everyone’s salary goes up by 30%.”

There was a stunned silence for a few seconds, then the room exploded with cheers. “Thank you, Mr. Murphy. Mr. Murphy is the best!”

“There might be overtime from now on, but you’ll always get paid for it,” the assistant added.

“Overtime? Who cares? I love working!” someone shouted.

“I’ll work myself to the bone for this company,” another added.

Xander didn’t let the execs off until ten at night.

Then, he went straight back to his office and dived right into the mountain of paperwork.

He’d spent years overseas, and now that he was back to take over the Murphy Group, he had to take care of every little thing personally.

“Mr. Murphy,” the assistant spoke up, a little hesitant.

“Go ahead,” Xander replied without even looking up from the reports.

“Mr. Murphy, it’s already 10 pm. You’ve been going nonstop since you landed. Maybe you should take a break.”
