Gavin said calmly, “She’s gone.”

“Gone?” Jacqueline looked a bit surprised. Seeing that Gavin looked a little down, Jacqueline didn’t ask anything more.

The whole family sat down together and shared their first breakfast of the new year.

After breakfast, Amelia grabbed Cameron’s arm. “Cam, come hang out with us. Bradley’s not even here right now.”

Cameron shook her head. “No way, I’m not going to be the third wheel for you and Lance. Brad will be back any minute now.”

Viremont and Steerfall were only about a two–hour drive apart.

Lance waved her off. “Alright then, Cam, Amy and I are heading out for our date.”

Cameron waved back. “Have fun.”

Knowing that Cameron was waiting for Bradley to come back, Levi and Jacqueline decided to go check out some nearby attractions.
