The next morning, Ruby yawned as she stretched her tired body, awakening from her slumber.
She had slept late yesterday.
After arriving at Diamond’s house, she continued with her assignments and ate dinner on her own since her parents hadn’t returned.
The couple returned home around 10 pm and they talked and shared about the day until the wee hours of the morning.
As a result, she woke up late.
Looking at the time on the bedside clock, a wry smile appeared on her face.
09:25 am.
Seeing how late it was, she could only wake up and get ready. She had appointments to keep during the day. So, she needed to make haste.
Thirty minutes later, Ruby was in the dining room, seated with her parents, who didn’t have work to do. The two would be staying at home, she guessed.
However, as they were eating, Ruby’s assumptions were proven wrong.
"Darling, we might return late tonight!" her mother informed her.
At hearing that, Ruby looked at her mother puzzlingly.
"Are you two going on a date?" she couldn’t help but ask.
Ever since her parents were living well without worrying about finances and the kids’ upbringing, they were free and pursuing their own dreams.
It was a Sunday and none of the family members had a specific temple or deity to worship. So where were the two going?
When the couple heard that, they both smiled and suddenly she felt sour at seeing that.
Why were these people feeding her dog food?
She wasn’t even dating and didn’t even have time to date and yet her parents were doing this to her?
The couple didn’t explain further. If they did, Ruby would have felt embarrassed if she knew that the couple planned to go and check the second farm.
Richard was very interested in the farming aspect and since the dam was being dug, he loved keeping track of the pace.
But what would be the fun if Ruby knew?
Ruby not knowing that, left home after breakfast and headed to the CBD.
She had made an appointment with very special people, Diamond’s fans the JEWELS.
She couldn’t wait to see these people in person.
Around 1 pm, Ruby was walking towards a café she had loved recently; HOPE LOUNGE CAFÉ.
It was the place where they were meeting.
Ruby pushed the door open and smiled at the servers, who saw her before looking into a certain corner where a group of fidgeting ladies were sitting.
With a glance, she could tell that these ladies were the JEWELS she was here to meet.
Her heart couldn’t help but thump loudly at the thought of meeting fans, though they weren’t hers in person.
"Ruby! Over here!" one of them cheerfully called out.
’Scary!’ she surmised as she calmed herself.
Ruby chuckled when she heard that. She replied to the person who asked, "Since there are just a few types of drinks, that would be impossible. I love the milk tea so much. They won’t bring something that I don’t like!"
Of course, she would have to worry about that when Diamond adds more teas or drinks to the menu. For now, she was a milk tea girl, and she wasn’t going to change.
When the four heard that, it was as if they had been enlightened and promised to register for their membership cards. After all, those who had tasted the milk tea or the red tea were huge fans of it.
With the topic of tea out of the way, the topic shifted back to the original issue at hand.
"So, why did you guys ask me today?" she was curious about the purpose of meeting today despite knowing the gist of the story.
Seeing that they were back on track, one of the four, named Julie, answered, "On behalf of the fans, we ordered a cake for Diamond sometime back and now the cake will be ready for collection on the 16th. Since she might be busy on the actual day, we decided to have it collected the next day," pushing her glasses over the bridge of her nose.
The conversation of the fans took aback Ruby.
Knowing Diamond, on that day, she would be busy for real. So, if the cake arrives on the 16th, it would bring the best impact. And since she would be interacting with fans on that day, it would be even better.
She nodded, acknowledging this tactic, making the four to feel relieved.
"For today, though, we decided to bring the collective gifts from the fans who are local. For those not local, they sent their money, and we have purchased what we think Diamond would like," Julie continued.
Ruby wasn’t surprised anymore. After all, she had interacted with Julie, one of the leaders of the fans. This Julie, on the GEM CAFÉ app, her ID number was 0007, with the first seven numbers belonging to the Perry family.
In other words, Julie can be considered the first fan who passed the crazy test she heard Andrea test for the fans to join the café. She was trustworthy and someone who idolized Diamond sincerely.
She was good at organizing these kinds of events, despite being the first time she might have done it. She didn’t know if Julie had chased other people before, but it didn’t matter.
She now belonged to Diamond, and that’s all that matters.
