Chapter 277: Vampire Assassins

Just as Lucian Greymoore settled onto the sofa, his phone vibrated on the side table. He rose, crossed the room, and picked it up.

"Young Master, Ethan Raynor has come to Diggle," said the voice on the other end. "He and his daughter are at a local ice cream shop. The place is rather remote. There are no guards with them... only one car. I’ve sent you the location; please check."

Lucian replied quietly, "All right. Keep watch. I’ll call you later."

He ended the call quickly and went in search of Gabriel Leroux.

Outside his suite, he encountered a hotel staff member and learned that Gabriel was resting in his room. Lucian hurried down the corridor and knocked on the door.

"Come in," came Gabriel’s voice.

Lucian pushed the door open. Gabriel was lounging on the sofa, a glass of brandy in hand, while two striking young women massaged his shoulders from either side.

"Mr Greymoore," Gabriel said, raising an eyebrow, "are you enjoying yourself here?"

"Yes, thank you, Master Leroux," Lucian replied with a polite nod. "I came to inform you of something. May I have a moment, please?"

He wanted to speak plainly, but the presence of the two women gave him pause.

Noticing his hesitation, Gabriel smirked. "Don’t worry... they’re my trusted subordinates. You can speak freely in front of them."

Lucian hesitated a moment longer, then began, "Master Leroux, you asked me to monitor Ethan Raynor. My people have been keeping watch over him for the past few days. At the moment, Ethan is at a remote shop far from the city... a place called Grandpa Greene’s Luxury Ice Cream. There’s no human habitation nearby. If your people are in the area..." 𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖

Before he could finish, Gabriel interrupted, "How many guards are with him?"

"None," Lucian said. "He went there with his daughter. I believe she wanted ice cream, so he must have taken her there on a whim."

Gabriel frowned slightly. "Why there? I’m certain there are several ice cream parlours in Manchester."

Lucian said, "It’s relatively well known in that locality. It’s the only luxury ice cream shop in the area that makes its products from locally sourced ingredients. People love it for its uniqueness."

Gabriel replied coolly, "I don’t care about its products. I want to know whether the shop is run by any supernatural being... or if it has any connection to the Raynor Clan."

"I’m not entirely certain," Lucian admitted. "But as far as I know, the shop is owned by ordinary humans. There’s no relationship with the Raynors."

"Very well. Please, have a seat," Gabriel said, gesturing towards the sofa opposite. He picked up his phone and made a call.

"Miss Mortensen, come to my room, please. I need to discuss the matter we agreed on a few days ago." He ended the call without waiting for a reply.

Moments later, a tall young woman entered the room.

She wore a simple black dress that clung to her form with effortless precision. The fabric traced the elegant lines of her figure... the poised curve of her hips, the proud lift of her shoulders. Her skin was pale and flawless, her black hair sleek and straight, cascading over her shoulders like a silken veil. Sharp cheekbones framed her face, and her full crimson lips formed the faintest suggestion of a smile.

She moved with deliberate grace... each step measured, her heels clicking softly on the floor. Her pale grey eyes, cool and unreadable, swept across the room. When they met Lucian’s, his heart faltered for a brief moment, an involuntary response despite the iron control expected of a werewolf.

At last, she turned her gaze to Gabriel. "Young Master Leroux," she said in a low, velvety voice, "how may I assist you?"

Gabriel dispensed with pleasantries. "Miss Mortensen, please sit. I want to discuss the task I mentioned earlier."

Vibeke Mortensen, the young heiress of a major alcohol conglomerate, moved with composure to the sofa opposite them and crossed one leg over the other. The motion was fluid, deliberate, revealing a long line of graceful leg through the slit of her dress.

She adjusted her posture and said, "The organisation I contacted has already sent people to Manchester. Ten vampires were deployed. They’ll need some time to learn the area and find the right opportunity to execute the mission."
