Eryndral stood in front of him once again, its massive frame coiled low, glacial-blue and venom-green eyes burning with fresh fury. The oppressive aura slammed into him instantly, heavier than before, as if the short break had only made it stronger and angrier.
Damon staggered back from the jump-scare scene, quickly retreating. His instincts screamed that this was no longer the sixty-five-percent fight he’d walked away from. Something had changed!
He needed to get to his fucking Blood Gate. Maybe if he somehow did a faint, he could-
His thoughts were interrupted when Eryndral casually destroyed the portal with a flick of its tail. His escape route became non-existent in the blink of an eye.
"Persistent bastard..." Damon’s eyes darkened. This damn cheating thing wanted a death match with him? Fine! If he was going down today, he was not going to go down without a damn brawl where he dragged that thing to death!
Blood roared in his ears, his aura igniting like a scarlet storm. The ground under his feet cracked as he pulled on every drop of mana, forcing it into his limbs until they thrummed with power. Yet another crimson lance appeared in his hands as he used Shadow Step again.
"Alright, you oversized snake," Damon growled. "Let’s see which of us bleeds out first. I have a lot more poison in my body. I will let you taste all of it!"
To his surprise, the beast in front of him did not react at all. Eryndral stood frozen, its slitted eyes locked onto him, eyeing him curiously. It then unexpectedly dissolved into miasma once again, leaving nothing behind except toxic air.
Damon almost stumbled and fell as he stared in disbelief. "What the hell? Why did you come here if you are just going to run away again? Make up your mind, you little bitch!"
Coincidentally, right at this moment, the miasma in front of him once again shifted, and this time, instead of the scaly draconic snake bastard, a slender figure appeared.
"Huh? Wait, what?" He stared as a slender figure stepped out of the haze with the kind of unhurried grace that made Damon’s instincts flare. Wasn’t this a repeat of what happened back in the Venom King trial?
They were clad in dark, layered robes that shimmered faintly in the dim light. A hood shadowed most of their face, but beneath it, two pale eyes glimmered faintly, cold, sharp, and far too mesmerizing. Just staring at those eyes could make one lose their mind.
Fuck! Damon instantly snapped out of it. Another mental attack?
A sweet laughter rang as if the person had read his thoughts. "I am not attacking Your Highness mentally again. Please relax." A woman’s voice came out.
Huh? Your Highness? Damon had absolutely no idea what was going on. Then suddenly, a thought struck him. Could this somehow be linked to him being the heir of the Venom King? They were all snakes, so the idea was not totally ridiculous.
"So you finally realized who I was, huh?" Damon adjusted his expression and tried his luck. He knew he was pushing things here, but he was shameless enough to try everything he could.
