Damon let out a sigh as he arrived at the outskirts of Twin Moon City.
"I’m pretty sure that idiot just trashed the vial without even taking a look at it. Fuck it. At least I somehow got twenty million gold coins out of him." His lips curled into a wry grin, the crimson glow of the Blood Gate fading behind him as the sprawling city walls came into view.
Still, his mind wasn’t only on the gold. The real prize was the knowledge he had pried loose, the Spectral Bone Staff wasn’t some common drop. If it truly could be upgraded into a legendary, then Necro God’s rise in his previous life suddenly made perfect sense.
He naturally did not return the potential legendary item to the guy out of the goodness of his heart or for good karma. He already had three legendary items in his possession, all three incomplete and all three requiring time and effort from him. He simply did not want to add one more to this list.
The current idiotic version of Necro God was weak as shit. If he played his cards right, then he would be able to snatch the legendary staff from him in the near future without much effort at all.
He had nothing against the little dude but there was no guarantee that the kid would grow up to become the man he had known. Especially considering how different this timeline was. Just Damon’s presence in the game had the ability to mold him into a different person.
The ball was already rolling and there was nothing he could do about it. This meeting only proved that. Any chance of meaningful alliance with that guy was simply non-existent. Instead of letting another enemy grow, better to take out the guy and nip this danger in the bud.
Heck, if he did not take that legendary staff from that kid’s hand, it might even end up in the wrong hands. Chances were that the Deviant King Mo Cheng from the Chinese super guild could end up with it and that would only make them all the more unstoppable.
Damon pushed aside these thoughts for now as he quietly walked into the city and into the famous tavern ’The Drunken Bastard’. He slid into a shadowed corner, ordering a cheap drink just for show. His gaze swept across the room, cataloging faces, guild crests, and overheard chatter.
Soon, the person he wanted to meet entered the tavern. Slam Dunk, the guild leader of a mid-tier guild Crown Eagles. The guy was pretty much a nobody. Same as his guild. But a few months into the game, he suddenly shot up in fame.
He had received some sort of class upgrade which made him a top-tier player. The best part was that many guilds including the super ten had very actively, aggressively tried to recruit him. However, the guy had refused all of them and stuck with his guild until the very bitter end.
It was not known exactly who it was who hunted that small guild but ultimately Crown Eagles were destroyed without a trace. Slam Dunk had also vanished along with them.
Damon was not sure if his intervention here was going to make any difference but what the heck. He would never know if he did not try.
Damon’s eyes narrowed as the man stepped into The Drunken Bastard. Right now, he was nobody. But in a few months, this man would become a powerhouse, a rival many would regret underestimating.
When Slam Dunk finally noticed him across the room, Damon raised his glass slightly. Slam Dunk silently walked over, not drawing any extra attention to himself. He sat down next to Damon and calmly asked.
"Bro, please tell me you are not wasting my time. Do you really have that poison which can kill any boss under level 150? The same one that was auctioned?"
Damon swirled his untouched drink, the liquid catching the dim tavern light. "Straight to the point. I like that. And yes. The vial everyone went crazy for at the auction? This is the same shit."
