Chapter 4
Aydan looked at me incredulously, “Caitlin, what happened to you? Layla is the child we raised from a young age. In such a blizzard, what if she encounters any danger?”
After Layla left, I couldn’t hold back anymore and threw myself into Aydan’s arms, crying uncontrollably. “I had a dream that you felt sorry for Layla, so you brought her parents over. Then the temperature dropped suddenly again, and we were trapped in the house. Unfortunately, we didn’t have enough food stored, and we let them starve to death…”
Aydan tenderly stroked my back with a pained expression on his face.
I looked up at him and said, “Aydan, after all, Layla is not on the same page as us. I don’t know what trouble might arise if she stays, so let her go back to her parents. I’m really afraid that the dream will turn into reality, and our Aleah is only three years old.”
Aydan nodded and continued to comfort me.
The big stone in my heart finally fell.
Lila was still busy in the kitchen when I called out to her.
She turned around, her mind filled with confusion: “Mrs. Bonilla, why were you crying?”
I shook my head and handed over twenty thousand dollars: “The weather was too cold, something was not right. Take all the money and exchange it for food, hurry back home.”
Lila was confused, but she had always trusted me, so she took the money, thanked me, and left.
After Lila left, I solemnly told Aydan that the temperature would drop again.
Aleah, who sensed the tense atmosphere, obediently stayed on the side and played with her toys.
Aydan hesitated for a moment, then said, “Then I quickly went out to buy more food to bring back.”
I shook my head and said, “You go find the best workers and have them secure our house inside and out, reinforce the doors and windows, and install solar panels. Also, create a specially fortified area in the basement, with proper insulation,
to serve as our safe room.”
“Leave the stockpiling to me.”
Aydan hesitated a bit and said, “Caitlin, do we really need to go to such an extent?”
I said with red eyes, “If you don’t want to watch me and Aleah die in front of you, then do as I say.”
Aydan gritted his teeth and nodded, “Then we split up and act separately.”
“Aleah, you obediently wait at home for Mom and Dad, and don’t open the door for anyone, no matter who knocks, okay?”
Aleah lifted her head and sweetly responded to me, “I know, Mom. Aleah will be good.”
I rubbed her head.

Without further ado, I chove the family’s nanny car out of the house.
I arrived at the large supermarket and, under the guise of donating to impoverished mountain areas, I found a staff member
We ordered one hundred boxes of beet, one hundred boxes of cookies, as well as pasta and two hundred boxes of bottled
water
Hundreds of pounds of vegetables that could be stored for a long time, as well as various types of meat and seasonings
When the end of the world came, the temperature in the house was even lower than the refrigerator, so there was no need to worry about things getting spoiled.
Worried that Aleah, a child, was having a hard time at home, I bought her some snacks like cookies and candies,
Then there were tissues, sanitary pads, shampoo, and shower gel.
I bought a lot of things that are needed for daily life, everything that can be seen.
The supermarket staff kindly offered to deliver the goods.
I drove the car and took them through the back door of the villa, filling up almost half of the basement with things.
