I Was the Stepping Stone novel Chapter 59

Chapter 13

Colin, who came from a wealthy and prestigious family, had already experienced various ways in which women tried to please and manipulate him, given his high position.

Danica was not a woman of high status, and these little tricks and hidden flattery were nowhere to hide in his

eyes.

Colin did not reach out his hand, and even refused to spare a glance for Danica, allowing her hand to linger in

the air.

Danica’s smile froze on her face as she awkwardly withdrew her hand and pitifully said, “I’m sorry. I was just curious about how Melanie suddenly got engaged, so I wanted to get to know him.”

Jordan saw his beloved woman feeling upset, so he quickly pulled her into his arms and comforted her softly.

When he was coaxing Danica, his voice was very gentle, which he had never shown in front of Melanie before.

So he instinctively looked at Melanie standing next to Colin, thinking that Melanie would be jealous and unable to tolerate being shouted at loudly, saying enough.

I would have told him that Colin was just an actor I had found, and that the whole play was fabricated in

order to make him change his mind.

Melanie stood silently next to Colin, not even giving him a glance.

He tried to comfort Danica, but she completely ignored him, as if she really didn’t care about him anymore…

“It’s getting late, let’s go and get the license.”

Colin didn’t want to waste time, so he turned to Melanie beside him and said.

Melanie nodded quietly and said, “Okay, I’ll do everything as you say.”

Speaking, Melanie reached out and took Colin’s arm, and the two of them naturally walked into City Hall.

This time, Jordan knew that Melanie was not pretending…

He was completely panicked.

Ignoring Danica’s presence, he went straight up to Melanie and stopped her.

“Melanie, how could you easily marry a man when you had loved me for twelve years?”

“Do you know him? Do you know about his family background?”

“Just because I was going to marry someone else, you got angry and married yourself as well. Do you think it

was meaningful to do so?”

Jordan asked Melanie three questions in a row, which made her laugh.

Melanie was about to speak, but Colin interrupted by patting Melanie’s hand and saying, “You are Jordan that Melanie mentioned to me on the phone, right? Before Melanie married me, she told me about you, and I also

told her about my own matters.”

“Her family background, as well as my family background, we both knew about each other, so there was no need for you to bother.”

“Also, Melanie didn’t marry me out of spite, she decided to marry me after careful consideration and only after she had given up on you.”

“You didn’t like her, didn’t cherish her, what’s the problem with her pursuing her own happiness?”

“Today was the day I married Melanie, and it was a great fortune for me to be able to marry her. I was in a good mood today and didn’t want to argue. But if you continue to say these strange things, don’t blame me

for being impolite.”

Colin slightly squinted his phoenix-like eyes, assertive and sharp, and everyone present realized that Colin

was not joking.

Melanie felt a long-lost warmth rising in her heart, knowing that Colin was standing up for her.

A man whom I had only known for less than six months, unexpectedly stood by my side without hesitation.

Looking back, Jordan and Melanie grew up with him.

He devoted himself wholeheartedly, both in the development of the Tye Group and in his personal life.

No matter what he faced before, he never once stood up to speak for Melanie.

Melanie was grateful from the bottom of her heart that she had cut her losses in time and married Colin.

Ignoring the various expressions on other people’s faces, Colin led Melanie into City Hall.

When taking a photo, Colin’s cold face softened, and he affectionately wrapped his arms around Melanie’s

waist, with love in his eyes.

Melanie also smiled brightly, as she genuinely wanted to have a good time with Colin.
