She had just arrived at the elevator when her phone started ringing again.

A glance at the caller ID revealed that it was a call from Zeke.

“What is it?”

“Something came up, so I won't be able to make it to the laboratory. I've spoken to the person in charge, so all you have to do is tell him what you need when you get there. He'll do his best to meet your requirements.”

Bailey let out a soft chuckle. “All right, I will. You go ahead and do what you have to do.”

Clarence had been waiting for quite a while by the time Bailey entered the cafe on the third floor of Century Grandeur.

“There you are, Bay!” he greeted her when she came in through the door.

Bailey massaged her forehead as she said, “I have never thought about returning to the Shurmer family, let alone taking Zoey's place. As long as you keep the grudge between the Saunders family and the Gezmond family a secret, I will do the same regarding my true identity.”

“And how would I know if you'll keep your promise?” Rhonda asked with a sinister smile as she stepped out from behind a corner of the room.

Bailey froze the moment she saw her.

“Rhonda, why can't you just stay home and mind your own business?”

Rhonda's eyelid twitched as she stepped forward and grabbed Bailey by the collar. “Mind my own business? You've turned my life upside down, Bailey! I've been suffering so much because of you, and now, it's time I make you feel my pain!”
