"Our target is him."
Eternity spoke as the screen he was controlling now stopped showing the fight between Nux and Zarveth and started showing Nux’s face instead.
Then suddenly, a few more faces appeared beside Nux’s.
They were his wives.
"And them."
Eternity spoke, pointing at the man and the women and the rest of the Infinities...
"Who are they?"
They questioned, curious.
Did they actually know more about these beings from another Universe than they were expecting?
This was definitely good news.
And while all of them were still wondering why Eternity did not show this before, for now, they did not question him.
Eternity, however, could sense what all of them were thinking and—
"They are the Leander Family."
He began.
"I had my subordinates look into Sharnoth Nocthys and while there were quite a few things odd about her, she is currently the sovereign of a High-Level World called Khaemorr.
When my men arrived at Khaemorr and captured their higher-ups, they found an interesting connection."
Eternity muttered in an amused tone.
"Connection?"
The Infinities frowned.
"Khaemorr was thought to be one of the stronger High-Level Worlds."
"If its leader is that girl, that is not a big deal."
Darkness shrugged.
The girl had the Body of Chaos. Even if it was incomplete, just the fact that she had some connection with Zylarith made this... quite insignificant.
Rather, it was quite embarrassing that Khaemorr, the world she led, wasn’t called one of the strongest High-Level Worlds instead.
Darkness could already sense how disappointed Zylarith would be in this situation.
Eternity and the other Infinities knew what he was thinking as well, and they all somewhat agreed with that line of thought.
Just that...
All of them knew that the girl couldn’t use her powers openly, she needed to disguise her Energy of Chaos into something else, so they could see how she would have to hold back, limiting the status of her world.
Not that any of this mattered—
Be it the strongest High-Level World or the weakest, it was all the same to the Infinities. They just stared at Eternity, waiting for him to continue, and Eternity did exactly what they wanted.
"From the reports I received, under that girl’s leadership, Khaemorr’s position has been quite stable in the Universe. They have good relationships with their allies, and the world only had one enemy—Aurendor.
Interestingly enough, Aurendor is also the world that destroyed the High-Level World named Nocthys a few years ago. The girl we are talking about is the Nocthys Princess—it isn’t difficult to see what she is trying to do."
"Why are you telling us all this?"
Darkness questioned with a yawn.
He had no interest in following the story of a little girl who had come back for revenge. He had heard so many of these stories that he was now sick of it.
Eternity didn’t react to Darkness’s question, he just continued. After all, he knew that even though Darkness was acting like this, he would still listen—
"A few days ago, something happened to the stable Khaemorr."
"What?"
Light questioned. Even she wanted Eternity to hurry up now.
"Their ally worlds started getting attacked and these weren’t simply assaults—the World Leaders were killed, leaving these worlds in such a weak state that their enemies’ worlds attacked, instantly ending the wars that have been going on for centuries.
This started happening more and more often, affecting Khaemorr’s image, portraying them as a world that does not know how to protect its surroundings.
The girl tried to do something about it—
But the enemy was full of tricks. It was impossible to track him. He knew where to attack, when to attack, he knew his target’s strengths and weaknesses, and every time he attacked, there was nothing left.
Nothing but the same sigil that proved this was all done by the same group.
Within just two weeks, Khaemorr’s stable situation completely turned around. Tens of worlds under their jurisdiction were destroyed in a similar way. Everything the girl did turned out to be useless. In the end, their allies started declaring their neutrality, not wanting to participate in war from Khaemorr’s side in fear of getting targeted like the other worlds were.
Khaemorr was now getting isolated, with more and more of their allies leaving their side—some even directly joined Khaemorr’s long-time enemy, Aurendor, severely weakening them and strengthening the enemies instead."
"That seems... quite frustrating..."
Balance muttered. He could see how even he would begin losing his mind if something similar happened to him.
"An enemy that cannot be detected, huh..."
He muttered, and soon, he realized something.
"That sounds quite familiar..."
Light muttered directly, and a single suspect appeared in every single Infinity’s mind.
"Who was this enemy?"
Balance questioned as he glanced at Eternity.
"It is the Mercenary Party named the Leander Family."
Eternity answered with a smile. It was clear he was already expecting this question.
"A Mercenary Party?"
Balance raised his eyebrow.
"My men were quite surprised about it when they first heard it. Usually, Mercenary Parties aren’t strong enough to put a High-Level World in such a desperate situation."
Eternity nodded.
"I then sent my men to Vael’Terros to learn more about the Leander Family, and as one would expect, they are quite the popular bunch. Almost all the Mercenary Worlds—even the ones who come from considerably far regions—have had missions assigned specifically for the Leander Family.
"So what happened was..."
He began telling everything that happened so far—how Sharnoth issued a challenge, how the Anomaly enticed Vexarion into accepting the challenge and whatnot—and in an instant, the Infinities realized what the Anomaly wants.
"No wonder that girl acted like his subordinate."
Balance spoke lightly, as if a big mystery inside his head was solved.
"The Anomaly must have promised her revenge in return."
"To think Zylarith’s heir would need someone else to get her revenge—that too, on a mere leader of a High-Level World."
Darkness snorted.
But Balance—
"The relationship between Zylarith and his heir might not be as good as what we were expecting."
He muttered in a solemn tone.
"What...?"
Darkness narrowed his eyes, and Balance continued—
"We all know what sort of being Zylarith is. He plans to control his heir through the Body of Chaos. That girl must have realized it."
"So she sold out her Universe for her revenge."
Light frowned.
"These are hundred-thousand-year-old children we are talking about, Seraphielle. Letting their personal feelings get the best of them is extremely common at that age.
I wouldn’t be surprised if she promised the control of her entire body to the Anomaly for a lifetime once she gets her revenge."
Balance explained.
"Lifetime, huh...
These children don’t seem to realize how long... life is."
Light spoke in an inexplicable tone.
Balance didn’t comment anything on it.
His focus was somewhere else,
"It doesn’t matter.
For now, all we need to focus on is contacting the Fifth Eternity and capturing the Anomaly or any of the women associated with him.
As for how we are going to do it..."
Balance paused, his gaze falling on Vexarion Aurendor, and in an instant, the other three Infinities realized what he was thinking.
They now had a new bait.
A bait that had the highest chance of making the Anomaly move.
It was finally time for the Infinities to meet the Anomaly.
