"What?
It is a genuine question, okay?
Swear on Nux’s life that you guys don’t feel the same!"
Shadow raised her voice as she looked around, staring at every single one of the women around her, hoping to get support from even one of them.
But it was hopeless. The women very quickly turned their heads away the instant they sensed her gaze, even Lane, whom Shadow considered to be her closest ally after Nux, did the same.
"Lane... you too...?"
Shadow blinked in surprise. Lane, however, didn’t turn back and just continued to stare at an empty space.
Shadow’s mouth twitched at that reaction and then—
"You do realize most of my thoughts are formed because of your influence, correct?
These aren’t just my thoughts, they are yours too!"
She shifted the blame.
"...you are now capable of having independent thoughts."
Lane answered in a low voice and Shadow pointed her trembling fingers at every one of her sisters,
"Cowards! You are all cowards!"
She raised her head.
As for Azriel—
[This one has gotten braver.]
He commented as he stared at Shadow with his usual expressionless face.
For a moment, his gaze made Shadow flinch; soon, however, she manipulated the Space Law and appeared behind Nux.
"Yes! I am not scared of you! My husband is stronger than you!"
She retorted, looking directly into the Vampire’s eyes with a look of defiance on her face. To get some more self-confidence, she tightly held the corner of Nux’s shirt, an act that made Nux chuckle.
He slowly placed his hand on the woman’s waist and pulled her close,
"Alright, that is enough."
He spoke in a calm voice.
"What? I am not lying.
Don’t think I don’t know what you are thinking, my connection to you is stronger than theirs."
Shadow answered, eyeing the rest of the women provocatively when she said those words.
For a moment, Nux turned silent. He slowly stared at Azriel and then—
He grinned.
Azriel stared back without any change in his expression; even the Vampire knew what the brat was thinking, after all, he had spent quite some time observing him.
Obviously, Nux couldn’t care less about his cultivation regressing. Even when Azriel became a mortal, Nux never once showed him any disrespect.
He wasn’t like that.
Azriel was one of the few people Nux truly respected; he would never stoop so low as to compare himself to a weakened Azriel.
Right now, however, things were different.
Azriel was no longer a weakened mortal; sure, he was still far, far weaker than when he was at his prime, however...
Right now, Azriel was technically on the same level as Nux.
This was the reason Nux was grinning like a madman.
He wanted a fight.
The fighting spirit that first Astaria and then Vyriana instilled into him was now burning far more strongly than it ever had.
After all, this was his chance.
His eyes remained on Nux; unlike the brat, who was full of fighting spirit, he was much calmer. However, it was an offer he couldn’t just refuse.
Even he wanted to hit the brat a little, and he was curious about how strong Nux actually was since he could no longer read him like he used to.
But...
[You might get hurt, boy.]
He warned, but his words only made Nux’s grin wider.
"You sound confident."
[I should be the one saying that.]
Azriel spoke as if it were the most obvious thing in the Universe.
He wasn’t the challenger here; he was the champion who was being challenged.
"Alright then, let’s do it."
Nux agreed instantaneously.
"I am coming there right now."
He declared as he prepared to appear from Faustina’s shadow,
But then—
[Shouldn’t you first talk about the reason you called me in the first place? I thought it was quite urgent considering the way your mother came to me.]
Azriel spoke and Nux momentarily froze.
He...
He may have forgotten about it in his excitement...
"R-Right, let’s do that first..."
He nodded with a light cough, not daring to look into Sharnoth’s eyes.
