Then, pretending to adjust his glasses with his long fingers, he realized he wasn’t wearing any. To ease the awkwardness, he brushed his fingers across his cheekbone.
Josephine’s eyes lingered a few moments longer on Zachery’s chest.
People always say that women in their thirties are like wolves.
When it came to her, it was absolutely true.
She had a wolf’s desire, and needed a man to help balance her hormones.
Zachery had a great body, an inexplicably alluring scent, and his looks were exactly her type.
Handsome and elegant, with a striking presence–not only did he have the refinement of a scholar, but sometimes the ruthlessness of a hero.
He was exactly the type she wanted.
Josephine put down the medicine and cotton swab, and her cool fingertips touched Zachery’s collarbone.
***
Josephine had only just brushed against him lightly, not even taking the chance to walk around or look about.
Zachery’s breath suddenly caught, his heartbeat thrown into disarray.
Out of the corner of his eye, he saw Josephine’s brows and eyes curve slightly, her peach blossom eyes glistening with a moist allure, carrying a casual, effortless charm.
His breathing grew heavier; he had underestimated just how much his body craved Josephine.
Just that one touch was like a stone stirring up a thousand waves–his body felt as if it were about to explode.
Zachery abruptly stood up, turned his back to Josephine, and glanced down.

Then, as if fleeing, he hurried back to his room and closed the door.
་་
Josephine: “…”
Was she really that frightening?
Josephine walked over and called out, Dr. Maynard.
Zachery’s voice drifted out through the door.
“Thank you for tonight… As for the injury on my hand, I can take care of it myself.”
So he wasn’t planning to come out again?
Well, at least she hadn’t pinned him down directly–her dignity was still intact.
But to be honest, she felt a little regretful.
There weren’t many men she didn’t dislike–Zachery was one of them.
She wasn’t interested in dating or marriage; she just wanted to have some fun with a man to balance her hormones. Zachery was a good, reliable man, but his views might not align with
hers.
Forget it, she wouldn’t drag Dr. Maynard into this.
Better to use Dr. Maynard as a standard and look for someone younger and more energetic…
Josephine returned to her own place, feeling a bit disappointed.
Soon after, she came back up again and left the men’s fingerprint ring for Zachery on the TV cabinet.
***
In the end, Zachery couldn’t resist and took a cold shower.
It took quite a while before the heat in his body finally subsided.
But the medicine he’d taken earlier had basically gone to waste…
When he came out of the bathroom, he saw that Dalton had come in at some point, holding something and examining it.
“Why are you back again?”

Dalton said, “I never left the complex.”
Zachery went to the fridge, grabbed a bottle of water for Dalton, and tossed it to him.
As Dalton caught it, he tossed the fingerprint ring to Zachery.
Zachery caught it in one hand, quickly recognizing it as the fingerprint ring–Josephine must have brought it over.
He felt a surge of excitement, sat down, and gazed at it, unable to put it down.
Dalton saw that Zachery’s face was practically twisted with joy, curled his lip, and offered some advice:
“If you like her, just tell her. Tell her everything you’ve done for her over the past thirteen years.”
“Even if you don’t mention sneaking back to the country every year just to catch a glimpse of her, at least tell her about all the projects you’ve funneled to Novo Tech over the years–from phones to smart home systems, from drones to network equipment. Whatever Novo Tech made, you bought it all, every single thing, all because of her, right?”
Zachery slipped the fingerprint ring onto his ring finger, found it a bit loose, then tried it on his thumb, where it fit just right.
With a smile at the corner of his lips, he lifted his gaze to Dalton and said clearly and resolutely:
“Liking her is my business. How I choose to like her is also my business. She doesn’t owe me anything for it.”
“Besides, by choosing Novo Tech, I haven’t lost out in business either. Her X2+ Chip eye camera has helped me countless times–you know that as well as I do.”
Dalton nodded silently.
Zachery had used the X2+ Chip eye camera in drones and other covert equipment, gaining intelligence in advance to avoid danger, and had even taken down several rebel strongholds.
If the X2+ Chip was credited to Josephine, then Josephine had saved Zachery’s life no less than ten times.
