A waiter cautiously reminded him, “Mr. Hayden, if we don’t grill the steak soon, it will affect the taste.”
“Wait a little longer.”
Wilfred waved the waiter away and tossed the jewelry box aside.
Ten o’clock.
Josephine still hadn’t come.
Wilfred lit a cigarette. In the curling smoke, his eyes were already showing impatience.
He had already lowered himself and taken the first step. Even if Josephine was angry, she should have calmed down by now.
Did she expect him to kneel on durians or a keyboard like those ordinary men?
Absolutely impossible! He had already spent so much time and effort decorating the
restaurant.
Eleven o’clock.
One couple after another kissed, left, and went to spend the night together, but Josephine still hadn’t come.
Wilfred opened a bottle of wine and drank heavily to ease his frustration.
Midnight.
The waiter said the restaurant was about to close.
Wilfred angrily threw down a wad of cash. “All night!”
If Josephine dared not to show up, she could forget about getting the divorce certificate!
As it turned out, Josephine really did dare.
Wilfred waited the whole night, growing angrier and angrier, and called Josephine.

“I don’t agree to the divorce. Even if you go to the courthouse the day after tomorrow, it won’t
matter.”
Josephine replied calmly, “I’ve already restored my social media account. Go take a look–it’s still there: ‘Whoever doesn’t get divorced is a beast.“”
Josephine hung up decisively.
But her mood was affected.
What if Wilfred would rather be called a beast than get divorced, and just keep dragging things out?
She had truly been exhausted this past month.
She had to be strong, had to work, had to pretend not to care about Wilfred and Belinda, had to act as if the two billion debt didn’t matter, had to be invincible and untouchable…
She held back all her emotions, enduring everything. The only comfort was that after enduring for one more month, she could get the divorce certificate and finally escape this soul–crushing marriage.
She had barely made it to this point, only for Wilfred to say he didn’t want a divorce…
Josephine felt restless and uneasy.
That night, she was unable to sleep the entire night.
She stood on the balcony like a wandering, lost soul.
She even thought, if Wilfred refused to divorce, she would jump off the Novo Tech building…
The idea was too crazy, and she quickly dismissed it.
She hadn’t done anything wrong, so why should she end her own life? Damn it, she wasn’t the one who deserved to die!
Josephine pulled herself together. On the eve of the cooling–off period’s end, she arranged to meet Wilfred for a calm conversation.
The location was chosen by Wilfred.
It was the same private room at the music restaurant.

As Josephine was leaving, she ran into Zachery, who had just finished work.
He asked, “Heading out?”
Josephine nodded.
Zachery added, “Natalia isn’t home. Should I drive you?”
“No need, I’ll just take a cab. It’s more convenient.”
With that, Josephine quickly walked away.
Zachery noticed that Josephine’s brows never relaxed while talking to him, as if she was facing something she couldn’t resolve…
Wilfred had booked out the entire music restaurant.
All the staff were gathered on the first floor.
Wilfred forbade them from going up to the second floor.
When Josephine entered the private room, she saw the place filled with gardenias, their fragrance light and elegant.
There was also a scent of incense in the air, mingling with the floral aroma.
Wilfred was sitting on the sofa, dressed in a gray vest suit. His hair was cut a bit shorter, and his single–lidded eyes looked stern and dignified.
“I set this up last night. Do you like it?”
Josephine said, “Not bad, I can see you put some thought into it.”
But it only made her feel more repulsed.
Josephine sat down, took a deep breath, and got straight to the point.
“The reason we’ve come to this point isn’t just because of Helena.”
“You feel suffocated and wronged by the vow ‘Josephine is always right,‘ so you want to dominate me in everything. But I have my own principles and pride, and I won’t let anyone trample on me. Let’s part on good terms, shall we?”
Wilfred looked at Josephine, whose face was calm as still water, and argued.

“If it’s not about Lena, then why were you fine before she came back, but insisted on a divorce after she returned?”
“If you just can’t stand Lena, I can fix that. I’ll buy a plot of land and build you another villa. We can move there with Belinda.”
Josephine looked at Wilfred as if he were a stranger:
