Aria’s POV

“They’re in the bedroom!” a sharp, shrill voice screamed.

A second later, a swarm of reporters burst through the door, cameras flashing like gunfire. They pointed their lenses straight at us and started snapping nonstop.

I froze in shock. What the hell. How did they even know we were here?!

Then I saw her.

My mother was standing behind the reporters, her lips curved into a cold, cunning smile.

That smile sent a chill down my spine.

SHE DID THIS.

She lured me into this room, locked me in with Zane, and called the press herself.

Before, I could still convince myself that everything she did was out of clumsy good intentions. But I couldn’t keep on lying to myself this time. This time, she wanted to destroy me.

“Stop!” I shouted to her, my voice shaking. “You–come back here!”

I wanted an explanation. She was my mother. Did she hate me or anything?!

But she only threw me a mocking look before vanishing behind the wave of reporters.

The reporters closed in upon us. One of them yelled at me, “So you’re cheating on Alpha Grayson with Zane Elrod? How long’s that been going on?”

“Get the fuck out! You have no right to be in here!” Zane roared. “And stop taking those damn pictures!”

“The person who booked the room gave us the key,” the reporter sneered, stepping closer with his camera raised. “And don’t worry about our pictures. I bet Miss. Collin’s little sex tape’s already online. Considering what a skanky slut you are-”

Zane leapt off the bed and slammed his fist into the man’s face, sending him crashing down in a spray of blood. The people around us all screamed and immediately turned their cameras to him.

“Zane!” I cried.

“Get off me, you fucking psycho!” the reporter spat blood. “When Alpha Grayson finds out you fucked his whore, he’ll kill you both-”

Zane grabbed the camera and smashed it over the man’s head. Blood splattered and he passed out right away.

Before the police arrived, Zane had already taken down five or six people and destroyed every camera in the room. It took five officers to finally restrain him.

“Lock them up! Both of them!” one officer shouted.

Zane struggled violently. “Let Aria go! She didn’t hurt anyone!”

“You’re in no position to bargain,” the officer snapped, shoving him hard.

Zane’s head snapped around, his eyes blazing. “I’m a noble, you worthless piece of shit,” he hissed. “Touch me again, and I’ll rip your throat out right now.”

The cop stumbled back, his face pale with terror. “I–I have to take the woman too. That’s Alpha Damian’s order…

Of course, he was in on this too.

Zane growled, but before he could lunge again, one of the officers jabbed a needle into his neck. He staggered, then collapsed to the floor.

“What the hell did you give him?!” I snapped.

“Just a little tranquilizer. Relax. Alpha Damian said not to hurt his brother,” the officer muttered. “Hey you guys, take her out of here.”

“I can walk myself,” I hissed.

No one bothered to leave while I got dressed. My hands shook, but I forced myself to stay calm. I pulled on the robe from the floor, covering my bare body with what little dignity I had left.

They dragged me out of the hotel. As expected, another crowd of reporters was positioned outside, their cameras flashing like lightning. They couldn’t get enough of the scandal–Aria Collins and Zane Elrod, half- dressed, being arrested. These photos would be everywhere by sunset. And people would be crazy about it.

The police took us straight to the station and threw us into a cell. The fact that this was Isla’s territory made my skin crawl, but I had no way out.

“How long are you planning to keep me here?!” I yelled after the cops as they left.

“Until one of your boyfriends comes to save you. Considering how many men you’ve fucked, you won’t have to wait long,” one of them sneered.

The others laughed crudely as they walked off. I sank to the cold floor, hugging my knees, trying to calm my shaking body.

I jumped to my feet, rushing to the bars, gripping them tightly.

For a second, a wave of relief hit me. But the second I saw the look on his face, that hope turned into dread.

He walked closer, step by step, his gray eyes burning into me like knives. I gulped and muttered, “How did you know I was here-”

“You fucked Zane Elrod,” he cut me off coldly.

I froze.

The air left my lungs. It was like the entire room was closing in on me.

After a long, suffocating silence, I whispered hoarsely, “If I tell you I was set up… would you believe me?”

He just stared at me, cold and mocking, saying nothing.
