The Alpha: Claiming His Enemy's Daughter novel Chapter 737

Chapter 737: THEY ARE COMING

Nala hated it when she had to cry, she didn’t like to show this side of her. She felt so weak and helpless. She gritted her teeth and tried to wipe away her tear, but when she did, more tears rolled down her cheeks.

She was angry and upset, but why she was crying instead?! She didn’t understand herself. She shouldn’t be crying, right? When you were angry, you should be mad, not cry!

However, she couldn’t help this loneliness that seeped into her heart when she saw Hanna walked away with Will hand in hand.

Even a lowly maid could have someone to rely on, someone, who stuck by her side! But, why she couldn’t have someone like that?! Every man that she met in her life was suck! They wanted her body and that was all! They didn’t give a shit about her after they hurt her!

Now she had to do everything she could to preserve her life. She was alone and she had no one to be called friend, neither she had a man for her to rely on.

She was all alone and her life was suck!

"I am hungry..." Nala hugged her knees, as she squatted down and let the snow to pile up on her shoulders.

"If you were hungry, you should be eating, not crying."

Nala was startled and immediately turned her body only to see Lou was standing right behind her. This must be the cold from the snow that messed with her senses, because she didn’t realize him was there until now.

Still squatting down, Nala shot Lou a dagger look, her eyes were bloodshot red, her nose too, as tears still escaped her eyes.

"What?!" she snapped harshly at him.

"Why are you angry with me?" Lou frowned. "Come, stand up. You said you are hungry, I am hungry too. I don’t like food in this pack house, let’s find something to eat."

Lou walked away, but after a few steps and he realized Nala didn’t follow him, he stopped and turned around.

"What? You don’t want to eat? Stop sulking, come and accompany me to eat, I don’t like eating alone."

"Go and find Sabian to eat with you!" Nala stood up, but she stayed in her place.

"Eating with an old man will make me lost my appetite."

Sabian, who was standing at the sideline could only cry for the injustice, he didn’t even do anything, but how could his master not fail to make a jab against him?

"There is drought, where else will you find food if it’s not in the pack house!" Nala grumbled, but she walked over to continue with their bickering.

From the look of it, Lou didn’t look for someone to accompany him to eat, but he looked for someone to bicker with since Ethan had been busy with his assignments.

But, like what Nala had told Lou, all the restaurant was closed, how could they have something to sell when they were having problem with food already? They relied on the pack house to feed them all during this winter and even if they found something to eat, it would be scarce, because they needed to hunt in the mountain to get a game or two.

And this problem was presented in front of the Serafim as well in the meeting with Jace and Ethan, both of them represented their alpha for the same reason that Cane was still grieving, so he would stay with his mate and their baby.

Abby couldn’t force him to come and discuss this matter, since it would make her look very heartless.

"You don’t need the alpha to be presence here for discussing about the logistic," Ethan replied to Koda’s protest for Cane’s absence, his demand was something that Abby had been wanting to ask, but thankfully Koda voiced out about it first.

"Two warehouses where we stored food had been destroyed during the attack in the Aggeverya road and if we want to preserve the area, we need to send more food and people there." Jace took their attention back to the main topic here.

Aggeverya road was a critical point, that was the only way to connect the south and the west. freewёbnoνel.com

The room grew quiet and the sky turned darker, as the night was approaching. In the other side of the pack house, Laluna was trying to meet with Cane, but Dean and Pax told her to leave, while Eron sneaked Della into the luna’s bedroom, where Grace had been waiting for her with baby Rora in her arms. The baby was crying because she was hungry.

Della immediately hugged the baby and calmed her down, at the beginning the baby was making fuss and didn’t want to latch on her, but after some coaxing, Rora finally gave in, she made a lot of noises as if she was not happy about it.

"She quite has a temper," Della noted, though she was only a few days old.

"Yeah, what to do, you can see how her parent have their own temper too." Grace caressed Rora’s ruddy cheek, while the baby kept making noises, though she was being breastfed.

Della then remembered how angry Iris was back then when she realized the children were being forced to walk with chain and barefooted.

"You are right," Della agreed with her.

Meanwhile, the said parent was in the next room, where it was very quiet and only the cracking sound from the firewood in the fireplace could be heard.

Cane was sitting on the edge of the bed, holding Iris’s hand, while staring at her pale, sleeping face. His own face was devoid from any emotions, but this time, he thought about nothing. He didn’t want to think about anything.

Time flew very quickly, but at the same time it was very slow. Ethan and Grace came and go from his bedroom to report what was going on around them, but Cane couldn’t find himself to care about such matter. He only kept his eyes on his mate and occasionally checked on his baby, who was with Grace in the next room.

Without realizing it, morning had come and Cane didn’t sleep a blink, his back was ramrod, as he stayed in his position for a long time.

"You are awake..." Cane helped Iris to sit down. He checked her forehead and was relief because her fever had gone down. "How are you feeling?"

Iris blinked her eyes and then looked around her, she stared at the sky out there, it was still dark, the sun rose late in winter.

"They are coming, Cane..." Iris said, she turned her head to look at her mate. "We need to prepare..."
