Just like the other pack, Crystal Moon pack was also surrounded by the crows. These crows were not as vicious as the one that had attacked Howling Wolf pack, thus Abby didn’t really have a hard time to kill them off.
She had the salamander with her and killed them all from afar. She managed to do that with the help of the Sylph, but she needed to get extra rest after. That was why, she was placed within Redmond’s group that brought up the rear, instead of the frontline.
Meanwhile, in the battle ground...
Jax was the beta that happened had altercation with Ethan in the past, he had this ugly scar on his face thanked to the gamma and ever since then, he swore, he would make him paid for what he had done, since he could leave unscathed at that time, but not anymore!
His anger fueled even more when he watched a head rolled on the ground, no matter how hard Ethan kicked it, the distance between them was too vast and the head couldn’t reach the other party, but still Jax could see whose head was that.
There was this uproar among the warriors. The beasts growled viciously and the curses were thrown after they witnessed how their alpha was being humiliated and met his demise in such tragic way.
"SORRY! ONLY HIS HEAD! HIS BODY HAS BEEN MAULED BY DOGS!" Ethan shouted again. He seemed to enjoy this moment the most despite the tension in the air, especially when he saw how his words riled them up and Jax’s ugly face turned even uglier.
Not only Cane killed the heir for their pack and put his head on the stake along with his two older sisters, but he also killed their alpha after he tortured him and degraded his body in the most horrendous way possible.
Meanwhile, Lou glanced at the gamma and felt bored. He stared at the bleak sky and wondered why he was here...
The merchant was having a question for his whole existence at this moment, because he was utterly disbelief he would get involved too deep with Iris and Cane to the point, he had to stand in the frontline of the battle, risking his precious life.
Dang...
Where it started going wrong for him...?
"I am going to kill you! I AM GOING TO RIP YOU APART!" Jax growled, he then signaled with his hand for a thousand beasts to charge forward.
However, Xo had different idea. He watched those thousand beasts moved closer and closer toward Cane’s people, but there was something wrong with the way they responded to this attack. To be precise, they didn’t respond at all. They let them moved closer to the point, there were only three hundred meters apart before the collision happened, still they didn’t move.
"It’s a trap..." Xo muttered, he looked around him and roared. "It’s a trap!"
However, his warning was too late, because a second later, there was a massive wall of fire that spread from the north to east, separating the two parties.
However, there was something abominable about this fire, because it was the color of black and the heat alone could burn their fur, once it happened, gradually you would be burned. The process would be slow and painful.
Because the other party didn’t have any magic user, no one knew how to put off the fire.
And with that, a thousand beasts died. Their painful howls filled the vast land and you could smell the burning flesh in the air.
"I don’t know you will be this powerful," Ethan tilted his head and looked at Lou. The merchant had this smug smile on his lips.
"What can you do without me, huh?" Lou folded his arms in front of his chest arrogantly.
"Forget I ever said anything."
"Luna! You received a letter from Della!" Zale said, he literally bounced when he approached Iris, while waving a letter in his hand and a hawk perched on his shoulder.
Iris had been exchanging letter with Della in the past few days, asking about the situation in the Howling Wolf pack. Della was there with Aderan and Sofia and her baby too.
Iris beamed when she heard that. She immediately opened the letter and read the contain. Mostly they would talk about the crisis with the food and whether it was possible for the Howling Wolf pack to spare some, because there were a lot of children here and these little one couldn’t hold their hunger well not like the grown up.
"Thank you, Zale," Iris said, she ruffled his hair and then stopped for a while when she noticed something. "You grow taller," she remarked.
Zale lowered his head timidly when he heard that, but Eron chimed in. "Nah, he is still a child, luna."
"I am not! I have grown up now! In a few years, I will be taller than you!" Zale growled at him.
"If you are taller than me, you will be a monster, boy!" Eron could be considered very tall among all the warriors, thus if Zale was taller than him, it would look a little bit scary.
Iris laughed at their banter and then went to sit on a bench to read her letter.
There was nothing significant in the letter that Della wrote to her, she said the pack could spare some of the food and they would deliver it to Riverside pack within the next day.
Aside from Della, Iris exchanged letter with Clad, who were in charge for the Blue Moon pack, everything was fine there. The spy was too old to participate in a battle, thus Cane assigned him there.
But, the letter Iris had been waiting for came five days later. It was the letter from the battlefield and everyone had been waiting for this for ages, they were holding their breath when Iris read the contain in one afternoon when the sky was so clear and the wind was not so cold.
