The Alpha: Claiming His Enemy's Daughter novel Chapter 853

Chapter 853: RED MIASMA

The lights came from her power and when Iris was done, the lights would fade away and disappear, but strangely enough these two lights remained, floated around her playfully.

However, Iris didn’t have time to think about it too much, she still had a lot of things to do and think about.

"How is she?" Iris asked Cedric about Abby. She didn’t look well, but this was a better result than the last time she tried to absorb the dark magic from Ethan.

"I don’t think she can continue." Cedric gave her his honest opinion.

"I can..." Abby said stubbornly. She wanted to get up, but it was obvious that she didn’t have any strength left in her to keep going.

But, Iris could understand Abby a little bit better now after she saw her memories. She was able to grasp what kind of feeling she felt right now. The urge and obsession to prove herself that she was not useless and weak, but time and time again, the universe failed her, proved her that she was indeed unable to meet other people’s expectation.

"Bring her back to the carriage and let Grace check on her." Iris could see that Abby wouldn’t be able to handle more fight after this, even though she was still conscious.

"No, I can go on..." Abby was adamant, stubborn tears welled in her eyes.

Iris wanted to say that she would only hinder them, since it was already so hard for Abby to move, but it would sound too harsh on her. Therefore, she softened her choice of word.

"Abby, I assumed you have not yet taken the potion." Iris watched her reaction and believed she was right. "Let Grace check on you." And the baby too. That was the hidden meaning behind Iris’s word.

And this time, Abby didn’t refuse anymore, she let Cedric to carry her back to the carriage.

Meanwhile, another battle happened inside the fortress. But, needless to say, it was not something that Iris and the rest should be worried about, since from the sound of it, their people had the upper hand in this battle.

Yet, Iris still felt uneasy before she could find Cane.

"Luna, I bring Lil Thing here!" Zale jumped down from the bear’s back. "You can ride it when you entered the pack, so you will not get tired!"

Lil Thing yawned, it was being dragged here when it took a nap. The lazy bear was actually having its own free time, while Iris and Abby absorbed the dark magic.

Ethan frowned. "When did he leave to get Lil Thing?" This young boy sure enough ran errand without being told.

"Thank you, Zale." Iris smiled softly at the young boy and he beamed to find himself useful for her.

See? It was a complicated feeling and was hard to explain about why people tended to try to prove how worthy they were to the point it destroyed themselves like what happened to Abby.

And for Zale, it might be only a simple ’thank you’ for Iris, but the warm feeling would last for days for this young boy.

Lil Thing nuzzled her arms and rested its big head next to her lap. Iris then scratched the back of its ear out of instinct. She needed to stay for a while before she was ready to enter. Just a little bit more...

Iris was sure, Lou and Jace would be able to find Cane.

Meanwhile, inside the pack, everything went so well. The warriors, the knights and the magic users worked together and it was not hard to defeat their enemies, since they were already disorganized because of the shockwave earlier.

However, it was not easy when they reached the spot where Dexter and Zeke fought against the lycan and the four elders faced the scary little boy.

The air became very tensed and it suffocated them, as if the closer they got the more they couldn’t breath, thus they could only stay outside the invisible circle that marked the battle ground for the eight of them.

Rooftops had been thrown away and houses had flattened to the ground, while trees had been uprooted, dirt and debris swirled in the wind.

It was hard to see clearly inside this invisible circle. But, one thing for sure, they saw the lycan’s black wisp that attacked Dexter and Zeke viciously. The two dark sorcerers looked like they were having a hard time to fight back and put the lycan under control.

The lycan moved too fast for them to follow and the black wisp was harder to handle than they imagined.

"BACK AWAY!" Lou and the other magic users created shield of protection around them to prevent the poisonous miasma from spreading further. They could die if they breathed in it too much. "Damn it! How could this thing be here?!"

Lou was right, it was indeed the poisonous miasma and now Lu was having a hard time to deal with it, since he breathed in it too much. His movement was slowing down, his attack was clumsy and the black wisp was not in control anymore.

"The lycan will die if we don’t do anything," Elder Dandolf remarked, as they watched the lycan had stopped moving and the creature breathed heavily, though still standing.

"Let it be," Elder Xarex said. "We will move in my command. Let them extract the lycan first and we will get the sixth sword, at that time..." Elder Xarex glanced at Elder Rose.

"I know what to do." Elder Rose would get the sixth sword and end Decratic’s life. This was their only chance. It was cruel for the alpha and they didn’t know what would happen to Cane if the lycan’s soul was extracted from him, but that was the least of their concern.

Their main focus was on destroying Decratic once and for all.

Elder Rose remembered about the prophecy, where it said; it should be the Serafim, who could end Decratic’s existence, but who would have thought it turned out to be her? She thought her era was over once she passed down the title to Abby.

But, seeing their current condition, it was not the case anymore.

A little bit far from them, they watched Decratic started to extract the lycan when the cursed creature couldn’t runaway, neither he could defense himself.

Their heart was beating against their ears, waiting for the right moment to strike.

Lu roared painfully when Decratic used his magic on him. The little boy moved closer to the beast lycan and touched its head, brought the lycan knelt down. Lu resisted, but there was not much he could do at this point.

Not only he was outnumbered, but he was poisoned too.

The howl from the lycan filled the sky when his soul was being pulled out from Cane’s body.
