Knowing Iris, Cane was sure, she would do anything, everything to save Letto but the fact that she didn’t do it made the alpha was even more concern at her.

There must be a more important reason about why she didn’t do it and seeing her feeling so much guilt pained Cane. He lifted her body and cradled her. He didn’t question his mate again, because right now Iris was too devastated to answer any question.

Like usual, Cane waited until she calmed down, he let her to take her own time to understand her feeling, but he also made sure that she knew he was there with her.

After an hour had passed, finally Iris was calm down enough to stop crying, but it didn’t mean she would immediately speak.

Aliana came to deliver her meal and she saw Iris’s current condition, but knowing the alpha was there with her, she didn’t say anything and immediately left the room.

Iris only asked once about their babies and after Cane reassured her that the two of them were well taken care of and surrounded by their people, Iris simply nodded and rested her head against his chest again. She clutched onto him, as if she was afraid Cane would vanish all of sudden.

"I can save him, Cane. I could have saved him..." Iris finally spoke after they stayed in this silence for hours. "I can use the air magic stone to save him, but I couldn’t use it."

"Why?"

"Because I need to use it on you."

Not like the other magic stone, air magic stone was only one in this entire realm, once it’s gone, it would be forever gone.

Therefore, if Iris used it to save Letto, she had to sacrifice Cane. No. Called her cruel and every bad name on the book, but she would rather to have someone else’s died rather than Cane.

This sight warmed Iris’s heart. She approached her babies and hugged them both, apologized for neglecting them.

Aside from Cane, Hanna and Aliana played a big role for her recovery. Physically, Iris was fine, but it was her mental that took a toll on her.

Only after two weeks later Iris could breastfeed her sons again, which meant, she didn’t need the wet nurses for her babies, this made her really happy. She looked much calm and slowly became herself again.

"Cane, you can tell me what is going on..." Iris said softly one night after she put her babies to bed. They were only less than two months and Iris loved them so much. She could see their wolf spirit curled their bodies near their cribs. "I am sorry, I left you alone again when I said we will face everything together."

"There is nothing to be sorry," Cane said. He pulled Iris to sit on his lap and hand her a few important reports and explained a few things to her, to keep her on the loop again about what was going on. "Don’t move so much," Cane groaned.

"Hm?" Iris turned her head and looked at her mate, but then she realized that she accidentally turned him on. She could feel how hard he was and this made her chuckled, she intentionally grinded against him.

"Iris," Cane called her name dangerously, while his mate nibbled on his chin, as a payback, Cane squeezed her breast and kissed her roughly.

However, before the situation could get further, they heard their baby cried. Iris and Cane immediately stopped.

"That must be Zander." He recognized his cry.
