“Yes, that’s exactly what I think. And I think it was more than one person. I just don’t know who or how many were involved. That’s why I was so worried about your interaction with Violet this morning. It had nothing to do with your ability to take her down. It had everything to do with whether or not she’s part of this and if that interaction put a target on your back. I will not allow anyone to hurt you or Shane. I care about you, Enya. I care about both of you, and no one will hurt you on my watch.”

He reaches his hands out to me. I take them and he pulls me to my feet. He’s careful to stay far enough away that his length doesn’t touch me, but he’s close enough that I can feel his body heat radiating off him.

“So please don’t come out here alone again. This part of the pack is too risky until I know who was involved. And stop avoiding me. I did not reject you,” he says firmly.

While I’m not happy to hear that someone in our pack might have betrayed our father, standing this close to Christian with both of us naked, his honesty about how I make him feel, makes me feel bold.

“Okay, Christian,” I say and the moment his body relaxes, I push forward, pressing my lips to his and licking my tongue across the seam of his mouth quickly.

“I like the way you taste too,” I say, dancing away from him as he growls.

“Enya…”

“See you back at the packhouse,” I say, grinning at him before I turn

and leap, shifting mid–air and racing back to the packhouse. There’s only a moment delay before I hear his wolf’s huge paws land on the ground and only another moment before he’s beside me.

‘You are going to be the death of me,‘ he growls in the mind link.

Funny, I was thinking the same about him. Well, that, and what a beautiful death that would be.
