The Alpha’s Borrowed Luna
Chapter 238
Kaius
“I won’t say I didn’t warn you,” Frost said, leaning against the doorframe of my office with that infining regersson of superiority.
I pinched the bridge of my nose, trying to stave off the headache that had been threatering since my commeration with Bowen was only trying to help; I didn’t know she would get so upset by it.
“No one likes their mind messed with, Kaius.” His tone capfied a hint of reproach that scraped against my already raw nerves.
“The last thing I need now is your lectures, Frost, I snapped, turning to face the window. Outside, darkness had fallen over the pack grounds, and there was still no sign of Elowen since she’d stormed out hours ago.
“Maybe you should go find Elowen, you have a lot of pleading to do. Despite the teasing words, concern underlined his suggestion
“Do you think she would forgive me?” The question escaped before I could stop it, revealing more vulnerability than I typically allowed, even with Frost.
“Yes, she would. I mean, she did forgive you for letting her go, what offense would be greater than that? He moved further into the room, his presence oddly comforting despite his earlier reproach.
Iran a hand through my hair, frustration evident in the gesture. “I just keep messing things up when it comes to her.”
“And you will have to find a way to fix it, Alpha.”
I nodded, acknowledging the truth in his words. “Someone must have told her. No one else was here except you and me.”
“Thalia would be a suspect,” Frost said, his eyes narrowing slightly at the mention of the Elder.
“If she was still in the pack, yes. She was always snooping around, so she must have discovered the truth.” I moved to my desk, sorting through the papers there with more force than necessary.
“Well, with everything going on, it clearly can’t be Thalia.”
“Who else would want to drive a wedge between Elowen and me?” It was a rhetorical question, but one that had been plaguing me since Elowen confronted me.
“Unfortunately, you’ve broken a lot of hearts, so the list would be really long. The hint of amusement in Frost’s voice did nothing to lighten my mood.
“Then we’ll filter; not everyone has the balls to reveal this to Elowen I leaned back in my chair, mentally sorting through potential suspects
“That’s correct. This sounds like something Lysandra would have done. I mean, she was working with Thalia; perhaps the elder told her something…” Frost paused, his expression shifting. “No. It can’t be her either, right?”
‘I left her back in Eldrida; she wouldn’t come back here; she just cant risk it.” I dismissed the possibility, though I wasn’t entirely convinced myself.
“That leaves us… just where we started,” Frost concluded, frustration evident in his posture.
I leaned forward, a new possibility forming. “Maybe it has to do with her being turned and everything; guess the Alpha thingy…”

Chapter 238
“True, Frost nodded slowly. “Maybe her mind never did let it go, and with her wolf now dormant, it makes a lot of sense.”
“What?” The casual revelation caught me completely off guard. “Her wolf is dormant? When did that happen?”
Frost shifted uncomfortably under my sudden scrutiny. “I was going to take her for a run some days ago, and she couldn’t transform; she said she doesn’t feel it in there anymore, and she seems so sure his other part of her had gotten more dominant, and that had left her wolf side dormant.”
“And why am I just hearing about this now?” I stood, irritation flaring at the thought that Frost had known something so significant about Elowen and hadn’t shared it.
