Chapter 114
Charlotte’s drunken voice was soft and sweet, each word curling at the end like a little wave–syrupy, teasing, impossible to resist.
Sean’s body went rigid.
It felt like a flame shot through him.
From down below, Jenny’s eyes lit up. She held up her phone, filming like her life depended on it. Excitedly, she elbowed the colleague next to her. “This is it. It’s real. The ship is real. We’re back in business!”
She was a total internet junkie and always loaded with meme–worthy one–liners.
The coworker nodded vigorously. “They’re perfect. Seriously. A power couple. I’ll die happy now if it’s for them.”
At the back of the room, Ian smacked a hand to his forehead like he couldn’t believe what he was witnessing. “God, I’m so dumb. I actually followed them here just to third–wheel this public love fest. I must be starving for attention.”
Sean, completely stunned by Charlotte calling him “husband” twice in a row, stood there frozen for a full ten seconds before he finally moved to get her off the
stage.
He scooped her up in a bridal carry and started walking off.
Charlotte instinctively wrapped her arms around his neck, nuzzling into his chest as she tilted her head back to
look
at him. Her eyes sparkled in a dazed, lovestruck
way.
“How is he so good–looking? Like he walked straight out of a comic book,” she thought.
She stared at him in awe, drunk and completely smitten, then suddenly blurted, “Come home with me tonight. I’m rich. I’ll pay you whatever you want–hehe.”
Sean happened to be walking past lan when she said it.
Ian immediately lost it.
“OH MY GOD–did you just try to pay him like he’s a gigolo?” he roared with laughter.
Sean shot him a deadly glare, eyes sharp enough to slice glass.
lan mimed zipping his lips and raised his hands innocently like, “I said nothing, sir.”
Before Sean could say a word, Charlotte looked up at him with the most adorable, clueless grin and added, “Come on… name your price.”
Even Jordan, who rarely cracked a smile, couldn’t hold back a laugh.
Ian had to cover his mouth to keep from choking on his laughter. His shoulders were shaking as he crept behind Sean and pulled out his phone to secretly record. This was gold, absolutely top–tier content. He was saving this for New Year’s Eve.
Sean’s face was stormy as he looked down at the girl in his arms. His voice came out low and tight, like it was being forced through clenched teeth. “Charlotte Riley. Who taught you to say stuff like that?”
Charlotte blinked up at him, a little startled by his tone. Her lips puckered into a pout. “If you don’t want to, then don’t. No need to yell at me…”
Her body was soft and warn in his arms, completely relaxed, and her voice was sticky–sweet and delicate. Sean had absolutely no defense against it. Whatever anger he had faded in seconds.
“Gimme a kiss,” she whispered, still drunk, as she tightened her grip around his neck and tried to lift herself up closer.
