The police quickly ran the number through their system and identified the owner.

One of the officers turned to Megan. “The phone belongs to a man named Daryl Seth. Do you know him?”

Megan’s eyes widened in shock. “Daryl Seth? He was the deputy manager of my company’s project division. I fired him just a few days ago.”

Charlotte’s expression grew serious. “That explains it. Those men were probably hired by Daryl to go after you. And your so called best friend was likely involved too.”
