Getting engaged to Rosalind, and even marrying her, was Lysander's choice. Thalassa knew this deep down. If Lysander wasn't willing, nobody could force him. Joshua was dead set on setting up Rosalind with Lysander, that much was true, because Rosalind was his beloved daughter. Of course, he wanted the best man for her.
In Joshua’s eyes, Thalassa could never compare to Rosalind. Thalassa never harbored any illusions that Joshua would treat her better than he did Rosalind. She always knew where she stood.
“Careful, Lysander. Let me help you,” Rosalind said, guarding him by his wheelchair, helping him navigate the ramp into the van to avoid any mishaps. Once Lysander was safely in, she signaled to David to stow the ramp away. While directing David, she shot him a look of disdain.
In Rosalind’s mind, David was on Thalassa’s side. Why else would he have advised her to give up on Lysander and find someone else? His advice was nothing but a ploy to clear the way for Thalassa to step in! Because of that, Rosalind harbored a grudge against David and was quite irked.
David, catching Rosalind's disdainful glance, paused, unable to react before Rosalind got into the vehicle and closed the door, cutting off his view. David was puzzled, wondering what he had done to offend Rosalind.
The car glided smoothly on the asphalt road. Sitting next to Lysander, Rosalind asked in her gentle, intellectual manner, “Lysander, what shall we have for dinner?”
Lysander’s recent action, standing up for Thalassa against a rude audience member, was proof of his care for her. He clearly wanted Thalassa to win. By aligning her actions with Lysander’s desires, Rosalind aimed to win his approval. And it paid off—Lysander’s demeanor towards her softened significantly.
She was confident the media would portray her and Thalassa in a positive light, highlighting their sisterly bond and support for each other. Rosalind was happy not just because Lysander was being kinder to her, but also because she felt she had won this round.
