Alaric laid out the whole situation to Remington over the phone.
Silence fell on the other end.
Feeling anxious, Alaric probed, "Grandpa, are you still there?"
With a huff of frustration, Remington replied, "Alaric, I've got to ask, just how many hearts did you break in your youth? Tell me straight, aside from Georgia, how many other women have you had fleeting flings with? If we resolve this issue, another one's just going to pop up. It's never-ending!"
"Grandpa, you know those were just casual encounters, nothing serious..." Alaric's voice softened as he tried to coax some sympathy from his grandfather, hoping he could pull him out of this mess.
Only his grandfather could help him now.
Taking a deep breath, Remington asked, "And the child, is it really yours and Georgia's?"
Alaric hesitated, admitting, "I'm not sure yet. We're waiting for the DNA test results."
"What are you planning to do if the child is yours?" Remington pressed.
"I don't know, Grandpa, that's why I need your help. I don't want to marry Georgia. I want to be with Hertha," Alaric confessed his dilemma.
"But that's your child!" Remington exclaimed, his voice laden with anger.
"What are you suggesting, Grandpa?" Alaric sensed his grandfather's disapproval and stopped his pleading to ask for his opinion.
"If the child is indeed yours, you marry Georgia. A child needs a family. If not, then you're free to pursue Hertha," Remington provided his verdict.
"No way!" Alaric flatly refused.
"I said, I'm not marrying Georgia, no matter what!" After saying his piece, Alaric hung up, tossed the phone onto the couch, and ran his hands through his hair in frustration.
Meanwhile, Remington, still holding the disconnected call, trembled with excitement and looked incredulously at Beatrice.
Seeing his look of astonishment, Beatrice's curiosity was piqued, and she pressed, "What did Alaric tell you?"
Remington, still in shock, failed to respond, prompting Beatrice to nudge him impatiently, "Come on, spit it out! You're killing me here!"
Finally snapping out of it, Remington shared with a mix of excitement and astonishment, "We've got great-grandchildren, twins."
"What, what?" Beatrice was instantly shocked, "You mean, Alaric has children?"
