"I’m telling you, I heard it!" Daryl insisted, his tone brooking no argument.

"Oh, so you must've been bribed by Wyatt, then!" Thalassa shot back, her words dripping with sarcasm.

"I'm going to call the cops right now and tell them you're framing me!" Daryl threatened, whipping out his smartphone as if to dial.

"Go ahead, make my day," Thalassa retorted, unfazed.

"Enough!" Payton suddenly intervened, his tone firm and serious. "Thalassa, in front of all these witnesses, you continue to dodge the truth. Admit your mistake, and I might go easy on you."

"She doesn’t need your leniency!" From the entrance, a voice rang out, stopping everyone in their tracks.

They all turned to see a tall, distinguished-looking man walking in, a smile playing around his lips.

Thalassa felt a jolt in her heart upon seeing him.

She remembered overhearing his conversation with Susan outside the interrogation room at the police station. The things they discussed shook her to the core, challenging everything she thought she knew.

The man replied, "You saw what happened in the semifinals. The last vote decided everything. Thalassa has connections, Rosalind is her sister, Lysander is her ex. That last vote, no matter what, would go to her. Lysander is also attending the finals. Don’t you see?"

"But this time it’s the audience voting!" the woman protested.

The man's voice hardened, "Just do as you're told. This comes straight from the top investor. It’s not about who wins or loses; it’s about ensuring Thalassa’s downfall."
