Atticus probably wouldn't even call that man "dad."
Lysander's eyebrows furrowed slightly, the light in his eyes dimming.
"Dad, don't worry, I won't let anyone bully you or Mom!" Just as Lysander was silently grieving, Atticus's youthful voice suddenly spoke up.
Lysander's dim gaze lit up like a switched-on lamp at the sound of Atticus. His eyes could hardly hide the excitement.
What did he just call him? He called him dad!
That single word, "dad," dispersed all the clouds in Lysander's heart, and his furrowed brows finally relaxed.
"Atticus Sinclair, what are you doing here instead of being at the military academy? Did you sneak out, does your drill sergeant know?" Payton finally couldn't sit still any longer, walking up to Atticus Sinclair and confronting him with the authority of an elder. His words were meant to suppress him.
"I'll call your drill sergeant and have him take you back," Payton said, pulling out his phone to make the call.
Thalassa was about to snatch his phone away. She and Atticus had just reunited, and now Payton was trying to have someone take Atticus away again. She wouldn't have it.
Payton was dumbfounded, staring at Atticus Sinclair in total disbelief. When he had set everything up, he hadn't considered Atticus Sinclair at all, since he had been at the military academy for three years and hadn't shown up. He didn't just forget about Atticus Sinclair; he also assumed that being at the academy, Atticus wouldn't be aware of what was happening outside.
He had known before that Lysander and Thalassa's son Atticus was a computer prodigy, having hacked into the Sinclair group and netted several billion at the age of four. His major at the academy was also related to computers. Now, his skills with computers had deepened even more. Restoring videos and audio was child's play for him!
"Is what they're saying true? Did you really tell them to do this?" Atticus then asked Payton, doubtfully.
Payton was left speechless.
