635 A Monster Revealed
Lily’s fingers trembled violently.
Of course she didn’t want anything to happen to her babies, but she didn’t believe for a second that Mergan would spare them.
If she couldn’t escape today, her babies were doomed.
“I told you, I hate you! I will never be with you!” Lily was frantic, her eyes red. “I would rather die with my babies than be your prisoner for the rest of
my life!”
“Lily, be good… give me the knife…”
Lily didn’t notice a maid enter the room and quietly light a stick of incense.
Lily had been holding the knife in a tight grip, but as a pleasant fragrance quickly spread through the air, her head grew heavy and her body weak.
Mergan’s image blurred in front of her, splitting into several shadowy figures.
She tried to tighten her grip on the knife, but her body staggered uncontrollably.
She realized then that there was something wrong with the fragrance.
“Mergan, you’re despicable. You’re…”
Her vision blurred. Her fingers went slack, and the folding knife clattered to the floor as she pitched forward.
“Lily…”
Mergan caught her just before she hit the ground.
His voice was full of obsession. “Don’t worry, I prepared this incense especially for you. It won’t harm your body. Don’t make me angry again. Just sleep. After this, no one will ever separate us.”
He gently placed her on the bed. After treating the cut on her neck, he placed a lingering, tender kiss on her forehead, as if she were the most precious treasure in his life.
He gazed at her peaceful, sleeping face, his eyes filled with tenderness.
But when he turned to look at Mathilda, that tenderness vanished, replaced by pure ruthlessness and disgust.
He gave a cold order to his men. “Wake her up.”

One of his men quickly forced a pill into her mouth and pricked her several times with a long needle. Her face contorted in pain, and her
eyes flew
“Mergan…”
open.
Mathilda’s stomach dropped when she saw Mergan standing over her like the grim reaper.
She hadn’t expected him back so soon.
She was stunned that she had failed to disfigure Lily and had been viciously knocked out instead.
Since Lily wasn’t disfigured, Mergan, still bewitched by that vixen’s face, would surely side with her…
The more Mathilda thought, the more she panicked.
But she knew she couldn’t lose her composure. She decided to play the victim.
“Don’t misunderstand! I only came today because I hadn’t seen you in so long and I missed you. I just wanted to talk. I never expected to run into Lily here. I thought she had died in the sea! I was so happy to see her alive. Since she’d been through such an ordeal, I was just asking about her health, but she suddenly attacked me! She… she tried to kill me! I know I’ve done things to offend her in the past, but I truly know I was wrong. Why won’t she just let me go?”
Mergan said nothing.
His gaze was like a knife, fixed on Mathilda’s face, as if trying to see straight through to her filthy soul.
He was utterly repulsed by her.
When he first found her, he believed she had suffered greatly. He’d felt so guilty and sorry for her that he’d spoiled her rotten.
He had believed his sister was innocent and kind. He never imagined she could twist the truth so often. They had been fools to believe her, and had broken Lily’s heart.
She had targeted and framed Lily at every turn, trying repeatedly to have her killed. How did she have the nerve to stand there and claim she was worried about her?
A few days ago, he had stumbled upon something else.
