Chapter 666 The Embrace
Because he couldn’t look at her, his aim was off. Instead of quickly zipping her dress, his fingertips accidentally grazed a section of soft, tempting skin.
The realization of what he had accidentally touched sent a flush of heat to Victor’s ears. He almost turned
and ran.
He ran a few steps forward before realizing the idiocy of what he was doing. He certainly couldn’t just leave
her in the car.
He steeled himself, turned back, and continued to help her dress.
The simple act of zipping her dress left him feeling like he had survived a battle. The back of his shirt was soaked with sweat.
“Adeline, can you walk now? I’ll help you upstairs.”
He had carried her out of Norman’s basement, but he thought she could manage to walk now. He only intended to support her, not carry her.
Adeline finally opened her eyes slowly. Seeing Victor’s handsome, noble face—the face that was etched into her heart–she felt she must be dreaming again.
She loved him and missed him too much. In reality, he was Marilyn’s man, the father of Marilyn’s baby. Too many obstacles separated them. Her secret love was doomed to be a lonely devotion, and she didn’t dare ask to get close to him.
But in her dream, she could be unrestrained.
“My dear?”
Adeline raised her arms and, with a soft, pleading gesture, wrapped them around his neck. “I really love you.”
The warmth in Victor’s eyes vanished. He instantly froze, looking like a solidified ice sculpture.
He emotionlessly removed her arms from his neck. “I am not your senior!”
Having her hands pulled away made Adeline’s eyes sting. In reality, he’s devoted to Marilyn, and now, even in my dream, he doesn’t want me!
But she was determined to be the queen of her own dream, to freely feel his warmth.
“You are…”
A seductive film of tears misted Adeline’s eyes. The normally cool and aloof woman, when she was pouting, was impossible to resist.
Her nose reddened, and she said plaintively, “I really miss you. Can you just hug me?”
The coldness radiating from Victor intensified. He did not have a habit of being someone’s stand–in.

He was about to reject her coldly when he noticed tears clinging to her lashes and the faint scent of alcohol on her.
It was clear she had not only been drugged but also force–fed liquor.
What is a grown man doing arguing with a drunk girl? I can’t just leave her crying.
After giving himself a firm talking–to, he said, clearly awkward, “Just one hug.”
The words were barely out of his mouth when Adeline, with bright joy, threw herself into his arms.
With a soft, warm body pressed against him, Victor’s body went completely rigid. He didn’t know where to put his hands or feet.
But holding him so tightly filled Adeline with unprecedented satisfaction.
Victor isn’t always distant in my dream. Victor can be warm, very warm, in my dream.
Holding him felt wonderfully comfortable. Her body had been burning as if she were being roasted over a fire, but holding Victor felt incredibly soothing. She decided to press her luck.
“Can you kiss me?”
Hearing her request, Victor snapped out of his daze. I promised myself I would only hug her once. This stand–in has been holding her for several minutes!
The hug had already violated his principles. He certainly couldn’t take advantage of her confusion by pretending to be her senior and savagely kissing her.
He pulled back, almost panicked, trying to create distance.
But the girl who was normally so quiet, aloof, and well–behaved was being utterly audacious.
