The Broken–Hearted She and the icy He
Chapter 669 An Unwelcome Visit
“James, stop the car!”
John stood up, trying to block James’s car. “Is Lily in there? I need to see her.”

James had no intention of stopping. He knew Lily didn’t want to see them and didn’t want her mood ruined by these two bad omens.
But he underestimated their shamelessness. They slipped through the gate right behind him as his car drove in.
James stopped the car in front of the main house and glared at Simon and John, who were following him like sticky glue. “Get out!”
“I bought Lizzy’s favorite dessert. Can you please give her the dessert?”
Simon looked up, his bloodshot eyes full of tentative pleading, making him look pitiful.
James, however, felt no mercy for him, despite him being his close cousin. Simon hadn’t shown Lily mercy the day the kidnappers threw her off the cliff. How could James pity him?
He didn’t take the wooden box Simon offered. He said coldly, “I told you, stop calling Lily ‘Lizzy. You will call her ‘Cousin–in–law.‘ I am the biggest shareholder in that cafe. If my wife wants dessert, staff will deliver it directly. We don’t need you showing off.”
“I know I made an unforgivable mistake, but I really will make amends. I…”
“Simon, since you know your mistake is unforgivable, Lily can’t possibly forgive you.” James cut him off sharply. “Stop trying to ruin my wife’s mood. You gave her some warmth as a child, but I don’t want your bizarre behavior making her remember that and feel disgusted. Nor do I want you aggravating her morning sickness or negatively affecting her babies.”
“I…”
James’s words were harsh. Simon retreated several steps, his face pale, unable to hold onto the wooden box. Seeing the box fall and the desserts roll out, he frantically knelt, his eyes red, and began picking them up.
He picked up one piece, saw the dirt clinging to it, and clutched it tightly, sobbing painfully.
His bond with Lizzy was like this osmanthus cake, now stained with dirt. Even if he wiped the dirt
away, the cake could never be restored to its original state. He and Lizzy could never go back to their youth.
He also realized that the disappointment and pain he had caused Lizzy were too profound. Any

attempt at compensation wouldn’t be what she wanted. It would only pressure her and annoy
her.
He sank to the ground, the strong man letting silent tears fall. He realized, with agonizing clarity, that he had truly lost his Lizzy.
Lily really didn’t want to see these two nuisances, John and Simon. But she had caten too much dinner and felt uncomfortable after the long car ride. She wanted to get out and get some fresh air.
“Lily…”
The moment she stepped out of the car, John rushed toward her, his eyes red. He raised his hand, clearly intending to embrace her tightly.
But James stood like a mountain, shielding her. John couldn’t even touch a single strand of her hair.
“Get out of my house!”
John acted as if he hadn’t heard James. In that moment, everything around him seemed to disappear. The only thing he could see was Lily, half–hidden behind James.
He missed Lily desperately.
Before her accident, he’d thought about stopping at nothing to steal her back. On the first day of her disappearance, he’d decided he wouldn’t make her angry again and would gently coax her back. On the second day, he thought he would go to her and beg her to come back.
