Lily’s heart raced faster and faster. Like a silly girl experiencing first love, she didn’t dare look into his intoxicating eyes. “I’m glad you like it. Happy birthday, James.”

Even though it was many days late, she still wanted to wish him a happy birthday. She wanted to spend every future birthday with him.

“Mmm.” James held her hand tighter. “I’m very happy.”

That she could be back by his side and celebrate his birthday made him incredibly happy. It was the best birthday gift Heaven could give him.

Lily quickly found the birthday candles, stuck them in the cake, turned off the lights, lit the candles, and sang him the birthday song.

Lily quickly dabbed her finger in the cream on the tray and smeared the cream onto his face. She had already turned the lights back on.

In the moment he froze, Lily quickly raised her phone, pressed her face close to his, and snapped several photos. In the first two, his dark, phoenix–like eyes held a startled confusion. In the later photos, a gentle warmth slowly surfaced in his eyes. He looked at her with doting permission. In the pictures, their eyes met, filled with deep affection, and they looked impossibly beautiful together.

“My husband is too handsome, isn’t he?” Lily giggled at the photos on her phone. “I’m so lucky

with men!”

Her words were not an exaggeration. The man in the photo had deep–set eyes, a nose that was high and finely carved, and a sharp, clean jawline. When he smiled, the starlight in his eyes spilled out, stunning anyone who looked at him. It was impossible to look away.

“Lily, take another photo.”

James usually disliked having his picture taken. Because of this, he rarely accepted media interviews. But being with Lily, he suddenly enjoyed documenting their moments together through photos.

With such a handsome boyfriend, Lily was happy to take more photos.

She pressed the shutter button, and suddenly her nose tickled. James had dabbed cream on her nose, turning both of them into little kittens.

Lily thought she looked ridiculous with cream on her face. But he suddenly turned his head and pressed his lips to her cheek. Her heart hammered wildly, and she pressed the shutter button several more times.

The final photo captured Lily’s flushed face and radiant smile, with James tenderly, lovingly kissing the girl he adored.

“Lily, send me the photos.”

Lily was reaching for a napkin to wipe the cream off their faces when she heard his request. Since the photos included him, Lily wouldn’t be petty and refuse.

She thought he just wanted to save the photos for himself, but then he posted one to his Moments.

“Love the birthday gift my wife made by hand. Love the cake my wife made by hand. It’s delicious.”
