**TITLE: My Wife 681**
**Chapter 681: The Truth Sets Him Free**
Marilyn stood there, a mask of confusion etched on her face, completely oblivious to the truth of that fateful night. It was glaringly clear to Victor that the girl he had been obsessing over was not her—not even close.
In that instant of realization, Victor felt as though the heavy chains that had bound him for so long had finally shattered. A wave of liberation washed over him, leaving his heart lighter than air. **I never laid a finger on that wretched woman. I am not responsible for her in any way. What a relief!**
With the burdens of guilt and confusion lifted, the world around him seemed to bloom anew. The air he breathed felt sweet, invigorating, as if he had emerged from a long, suffocating darkness.
Marilyn, however, was quick to scramble for words, her voice shaky as she attempted to weave a web of lies. “Yes, you did carry me to wash that night,” she stammered, her eyes darting nervously. “You were so rough with me; I was completely out of it. That’s why I couldn’t remember anything… Victor, I’m pregnant with the Luke family heir! You can’t just abandon me!”
Victor’s disbelief was palpable. He couldn’t bear to look at her, this irritating woman who had somehow entangled herself in his life. All he wanted was to find Adeline, to confirm that she was indeed the girl from that night—the one who haunted his thoughts.
“I’m carrying your flesh and blood, the only heir of the Luke family!” Marilyn insisted, desperation creeping into her tone. “If I’m lying, let lightning strike me down! Victor, every child is a treasure, a divine gift. Think of how heartbroken our child would be if you chose to abandon us. You can’t be so cruel!”
“Get out!” Victor’s voice was firm, cutting through the air like a knife. He had no intention of entertaining her delusions any longer. When she reached for him, he shoved her away in disgust, his patience wearing thin. He hurried into his car and revved the engine, eager to escape.
“Victor!” Marilyn’s voice trailed after him, filled with a mix of anger and desperation. As she steadied herself, she watched him drive away, her heart pounding with frustration.
“Victor, you’re leaving me and our child for some cheap tramp! You’re heartless! I will never forgive you! Our baby and I will never forgive you! You will regret this!” Her words echoed in the air, filled with venom.
Nearby, a young couple who had just registered their marriage witnessed the entire scene unfold. The girl, her expression one of amusement, couldn’t help but roll her eyes. “Oh, please! How shameless!” she exclaimed, her voice dripping with sarcasm. “The world is truly falling apart. Anyone can run around causing chaos these days. Who are you calling a lunatic? You tramp! Your whole family are lunatics!”
