Rita frowned. She never liked talking to Chase in the first place, and she always believed that the truth would eventually prevail. However, she also understood that some people would believe Chase's lies.
"Sorry, Chase, but I've recorded everything you just said. As for the slanderous remarks you made, I'll leave them in the hands of my lawyer. Don't think that you can bully me just because I'm a newcomer. I'll sue you for this and along with everything written in this magazine. I'm going to make you pay."
Many colleagues were surprised by Rita's bold move, revealing herself as the victim written in the article. At the same time, they admired her determination. A legal battle was not something that could be resolved quickly.
It seemed Rita was truly determined to settle this score once and for all.
"Bullcrap! Everything I said was the truth. Did I say a single false word?"
Rita smiled faintly. "Since you're so determined, I have nothing more to say. See you in court. I hope your resolve is as hard there as it is now. I wonder if your uncle will still vouch for you then?"
Chase suddenly remembered what his uncle had said earlier—to lay low for a while and not contact them. He would definitely lose the lawsuit without his uncle's support. He would be doomed to carry the stigma for the rest of his life. He, once a promising reporter, would end up like a street rat who everyone would want to get rid of.
Chase struggled desperately, and his colleagues accidentally loosened their grip. Just as they were about to stop him, he suddenly knelt in front of Rita with a heavy thud. He would have grabbed her legs if she had not stepped back in time.
"Rita, please, don't sue me! I can't go to jail! I'll do whatever you want. Can you please give me your recording device?"
Rita crossed her arms in disgust, looking down at the tears and snot streaming down his face. He would not have been in the situation he was in if he had even a shred of sense when he was bullying her.

The readers' comments on the novel: The Day I Kissed An Older Man
This book is a good book, but it’s too short. I hope it has a part two👍🏾...
This book is getting boring now. I loved Jeremy, Corinne, Sonny and Lucas. The story needs to end. or bring back more of Jeremy, etc....
I haven't skipped any chapter at all. Though the story is good, it keeps going back to base one. I think this has no ending at all and somehow after reading more than 2500 chapters it's kinda tiring already. They have drained all the thrills....
Great writing! I almost cried when Helen hit Melody! So sad! 😭 can’t wait to see how the relationship with her and Lucas develops though. So tired of the repetitive problems with different people....
Yikes my body tenses so much, my moods change as the scenes change. It leaves me wanting to continue reading....
my heart breaks for melody, so many ups and downs, i shed a few tears when lucas walked by melody carrying thalia, and melody stayed quiet while watching them leave. i find myself getting into character as if im one. i dont remember ever feeling like that in any other books. im thankful the 10 chapters/day. waiting for the next 10...
We have updated progress from 7 chapters/day to 10 chapters/day.<3...
i love grandma Beatrice, there needs to me more people like her in the world straight forward and to the point, no beating around the bush and worrying about offending anyone, why pretend to be someone your not....
looking forward to more chapters, The same thing is happening to Melody as what happened to Luna, if Luna was back maybe she would set Lucas straight, can't wait to see how Lucas handles the situations that will arrive. Poor Melody....
ya Lucas pay more attention to Melody lets see what happens waiting for more chapters thanks...
