"Don't you have to go back to training? Didn't you always say you must practice every day?" Sherman glanced down at the documents while Claire stood in front of him, chattering away about the movie they had watched together.
In truth, Sherman had long forgotten what the movie was about. Throughout the two hours in the cinema, he was consumed by an inexplicable restlessness, though he did not show it on his face.
"Well, that's true, but I'm also just a regular person. Can't I give myself a break from time to time? Why are you rushing me to go back anyway? Is it because you want to go meet with your girlfriend?" Claire joked.
Sherman did not respond.
However, the next moment, Lucy's voice came through the office's landline, "Mister Sherman, Miss Rita is waiting for you in the conference room."
Claire's expression immediately soured, and Sherman's hand paused.
"Got it. You can carry on with your work," Sherman said.
"Yes, Mister Sherman."
Claire's smile faltered. "Is Miss Rita the reporter who interviewed me? Why would she come here to see you?"
"You've said so yourself that she's a reporter, so she must be here for an interview. Why don't you head back first since I have another guest? I'll have the driver take you."
Sherman stood up as if to escort Claire out, but it seemed like Claire's feet were glued to the floor.
"I'm sorry. I shouldn't have said that. But you should go back now. Miss Rita is only here for work," said Sherman. Then, not wanting Rita to wait for him in vain, he said to his secretary, "Lucy, please ask Miss Rita to wait for me at the reception room. I'll be there in a moment."
"As you wish, Mister Sherman."
Claire continued to stand in front of Sherman with her arms crossed. She was prepared to stand her ground until the end. "Huh! I'm not leaving this place even if you force me to! I want to see what you two have to talk about."
Sherman sighed, feeling a headache coming. "Must you make a scene, Claire? You know that we can't go back to how things were since that incident. Can't we just be friends?"
"No, I don't want to be just friends! Sherman, I know I messed up, and I've apologized to you countless times. I've even punished myself by staying abroad for the past few years, and I didn't contact you unless absolutely necessary. Isn't that enough?"

The readers' comments on the novel: The Day I Kissed An Older Man
This book is a good book, but it’s too short. I hope it has a part two👍🏾...
This book is getting boring now. I loved Jeremy, Corinne, Sonny and Lucas. The story needs to end. or bring back more of Jeremy, etc....
I haven't skipped any chapter at all. Though the story is good, it keeps going back to base one. I think this has no ending at all and somehow after reading more than 2500 chapters it's kinda tiring already. They have drained all the thrills....
Great writing! I almost cried when Helen hit Melody! So sad! 😭 can’t wait to see how the relationship with her and Lucas develops though. So tired of the repetitive problems with different people....
Yikes my body tenses so much, my moods change as the scenes change. It leaves me wanting to continue reading....
my heart breaks for melody, so many ups and downs, i shed a few tears when lucas walked by melody carrying thalia, and melody stayed quiet while watching them leave. i find myself getting into character as if im one. i dont remember ever feeling like that in any other books. im thankful the 10 chapters/day. waiting for the next 10...
We have updated progress from 7 chapters/day to 10 chapters/day.<3...
i love grandma Beatrice, there needs to me more people like her in the world straight forward and to the point, no beating around the bush and worrying about offending anyone, why pretend to be someone your not....
looking forward to more chapters, The same thing is happening to Melody as what happened to Luna, if Luna was back maybe she would set Lucas straight, can't wait to see how Lucas handles the situations that will arrive. Poor Melody....
ya Lucas pay more attention to Melody lets see what happens waiting for more chapters thanks...
