"Karen, be honest with me. Are you involved in what happened today?" asked Vince.
Karen's hand on his shoulder tensed momentarily. She was about to pull her hands back when he grabbed it.
She forced a smile and asked, "What do you mean by that? Haven't I explained everything to you? Why are you asking me this again?"
Vince stared at her sternly, refusing to let any of her expressions get past him. "Rita is my daughter, so no one knows her better than me. She'd never do something like this. Even if she likes having fun, she wouldn't joke about her health like this. Especially considering the presence of sleeping pills detected in her system by the doctor. As far as I know, Rita has no trouble sleeping, so where did these sleeping pills come from?"
Karen withdrew her hand, feigning anger. "So you're saying I'm lying to you? Rita's so perfect, and it's never her fault, so I must be the one who drugged her. Do you know how many years she's been living away from us? You have no idea what she's like outside because she always puts up an act in front of you. You always refuse to believe me. How can you still not know what kind of person I am after being married to me for so long?"
Vince replied meaningfully, "It's precisely because we've been married for so long that I know what kind of person you are. I just want a straight answer from you. Are you or are you not involved in this matter? I won't bring it up again if you tell me it has nothing to do with you, but if I find out you're somehow connected to it…
"Karen, just remember this: Rita is my daughter, and I absolutely will not allow anyone to hurt her!"
'She did seem like she had been feeling unwell lately,' thought Vince.
Karen had been feeling drowsy all the time and unable to eat properly. Vince suspected it might be a stomach issue. He had agreed to take her to the hospital for a check-up, but it got delayed due to various reasons.
Vince felt a pang of guilt. "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have been so suspicious. Why didn't you just tell me this earlier?"

The readers' comments on the novel: The Day I Kissed An Older Man
This book is a good book, but it’s too short. I hope it has a part two👍🏾...
This book is getting boring now. I loved Jeremy, Corinne, Sonny and Lucas. The story needs to end. or bring back more of Jeremy, etc....
I haven't skipped any chapter at all. Though the story is good, it keeps going back to base one. I think this has no ending at all and somehow after reading more than 2500 chapters it's kinda tiring already. They have drained all the thrills....
Great writing! I almost cried when Helen hit Melody! So sad! 😭 can’t wait to see how the relationship with her and Lucas develops though. So tired of the repetitive problems with different people....
Yikes my body tenses so much, my moods change as the scenes change. It leaves me wanting to continue reading....
my heart breaks for melody, so many ups and downs, i shed a few tears when lucas walked by melody carrying thalia, and melody stayed quiet while watching them leave. i find myself getting into character as if im one. i dont remember ever feeling like that in any other books. im thankful the 10 chapters/day. waiting for the next 10...
We have updated progress from 7 chapters/day to 10 chapters/day.<3...
i love grandma Beatrice, there needs to me more people like her in the world straight forward and to the point, no beating around the bush and worrying about offending anyone, why pretend to be someone your not....
looking forward to more chapters, The same thing is happening to Melody as what happened to Luna, if Luna was back maybe she would set Lucas straight, can't wait to see how Lucas handles the situations that will arrive. Poor Melody....
ya Lucas pay more attention to Melody lets see what happens waiting for more chapters thanks...
