"Don't you see I'm helping you? If Sherman had even the slightest liking for you, he wouldn't have said those words about not hoping for anything more from him. There's no hope for a wedding, but you should be happy as long as he's willing to get a marriage certificate with you. So stop throwing a tantrum here!"
Rita laughed out of frustration. "Of course there won't be a wedding since you forced him into marrying me! I'm not the one he likes, so why would he give me a wedding? As for the marriage certificate, don't ever bring it up in front of me again! I don't even know how to face him anymore, and this is all thanks to you! I should really give you a 'Dad of the Year' award."
Rita slumped back in her chair, feeling somewhat defeated. She had no idea how she should go about her life anymore. Everything had seemed surreal ever since she was discharged from the hospital; nothing had gone according to her wishes.
She had thought that she would be able to repair her friendship with Sherman once she gave him the evidence, but it turned out to be futile.
'Maybe it'd be better if I'd never met him in the first place,' thought Rita with a sigh as she looked out the window, wondering if Sherman regretted meeting her.
Just a few days after their hasty decision to get married, Sherman requested Rita to provide him with her personal information.
Rita knew she was in the wrong, and ever since that incident, she had been cautious around Sherman. She did not know what he needed the information for, so she decided to call and ask, even though she knew he did not want to hear her voice. It was her only chance to interact with him.
"Hello?"
Even over the phone, Sherman could hear the caution in her voice. If only he had known it would come to this.
She laughed helplessly. After all, she deserved Sherman's treatment of her—on account of what her father did to him.
After the information was handed over, there was no further contact between them. It was not until a week later that Lucy handed Rita the marriage certificate.
She hesitantly took the certificate, even pulling her hand back as if it had been burnt.
"Miss Rita, this is your marriage certificate with Mister Sherman. This is your copy. Please keep it safe," said Lucy.

The readers' comments on the novel: The Day I Kissed An Older Man
This book is a good book, but it’s too short. I hope it has a part two👍🏾...
This book is getting boring now. I loved Jeremy, Corinne, Sonny and Lucas. The story needs to end. or bring back more of Jeremy, etc....
I haven't skipped any chapter at all. Though the story is good, it keeps going back to base one. I think this has no ending at all and somehow after reading more than 2500 chapters it's kinda tiring already. They have drained all the thrills....
Great writing! I almost cried when Helen hit Melody! So sad! 😭 can’t wait to see how the relationship with her and Lucas develops though. So tired of the repetitive problems with different people....
Yikes my body tenses so much, my moods change as the scenes change. It leaves me wanting to continue reading....
my heart breaks for melody, so many ups and downs, i shed a few tears when lucas walked by melody carrying thalia, and melody stayed quiet while watching them leave. i find myself getting into character as if im one. i dont remember ever feeling like that in any other books. im thankful the 10 chapters/day. waiting for the next 10...
We have updated progress from 7 chapters/day to 10 chapters/day.<3...
i love grandma Beatrice, there needs to me more people like her in the world straight forward and to the point, no beating around the bush and worrying about offending anyone, why pretend to be someone your not....
looking forward to more chapters, The same thing is happening to Melody as what happened to Luna, if Luna was back maybe she would set Lucas straight, can't wait to see how Lucas handles the situations that will arrive. Poor Melody....
ya Lucas pay more attention to Melody lets see what happens waiting for more chapters thanks...
