The Day My Contract Ended I Married Another Man novel Chapter 5

That night, Alexander didn’t stay.

The next day, his assistant delivered several of the latest Louis Vuitton bags from the season.

One of the bags contained a card and a property deed for a place in the heart of London.

The assistant said, The five million in the card and the property are a graduation gift from Mr. Whitmore.

Although it was presented as a graduation gift, I knew it was Alexander’s way of trying to make up for what he had discarded the day before.

He was always generous with his lovers.

I thanked him, and as the assistant turned to leave, I couldn’t help but ask, Will he be coming back in the next few days?

The assistant replied, “Mr. Whitmore has delayed a lot of company business for Miss Vivienne Ashford’s first performance. After the concert, he will likely return to the U.S. to handle his affairs. He probably won’t be back until next month.

But I wouldn’t wait until next month.

I remained silent for a long time before opening my phone and buying a ticket to Vivienne

Ashford’s performance.

That afternoon, I was having lunch with Lily at the campus café, listening to her angrily

muttering.

It’s so annoying! The research project I applied for got rejected again, just because they’re saving it for Lucas Harris? Seriously? Three professors are practically hovering over him, handing him topics, but he refuses them all and says he’s going back to the U.S., and the professors are still waiting for him! If he doesn’t want it, can’t they just give it to me?

Lucas was quite famous in the studyabroad community in the U.K. He had excellent grades, was handsome, and was regarded as a genius among all the top students.

I had heard of him when I first entered the university.

At that time, Lily had been infatuated with him, saying she would definitely win him over.

But four years later, she hadn’t seen much of him, and now, she was the one who disliked him.

I couldn’t help but laugh, and Lily shot me a glare, Are you going to the library with me after

lunch or not?

Going to see a music performance, want to come with me?

I showed Lily the ticket, and she glanced at it dismissively, I’ve heard of her. Who wants to listen to a thirdrate pianist like her? It’s all just capital piled up. You shouldn’t go either.

I smiled and said nothing.

I probably shouldn’t go.

As a kept woman, I shouldn’t get too involved in the sponsor’s life.

But if Alexander went back to the U.S. after the concert, this might be my last chance to see him.

I still wanted to see him one more time.

I just didn’t expect to be late.

When I arrived at the performance hall, the concert had already started.

I walked into the hall, where the lighting was dim enough that I couldn’t make out the audience

below.

But I still immediately spotted Alexander in the first row.

He was sitting in the darkness, his head slightly tilted up, deeply focused on the single beam of

light on the stage.

It was a look I had never seen before.

It was like the blue light of the deep seaonly in the darkness could emotions surge and flow

freely through his eyes.

I stood there, rooted to the spot, my chest feeling blocked by his intense gaze.

Just then, the music ended.

Vivienne Ashford stood up and bowed to the audience, thanking them.

I would like to dedicate this performance to my husband. Although he couldn’t come to London, the piano he gave me is here with me, just like he’s always by my side.

Her words, shy yet sweet, made the audience chuckle.

But in the laughter, I saw Alexander’s expression darken, and his clenched fingers turned white.

The host turned to the audience, I believe Mr. Whitmore, the second young master of the

Whitmore family, is here as well.

Vivienne Ashford smiled sweetly, Yes, after all, besides being my brotherinlaw, we’re also very good friends.

Alexander suddenly stood up with a swift movement, his legs carrying him toward the door.

And just like that, we unexpectedly met.

I had nowhere to hide and had no choice but to face him, while Alexander’s cold gaze froze me

inch by inch.

I forced a smile, just about to speak, but Alexander suddenly grabbed my wrist and pulled me out

of the hall.

His pace was fast, and I was almost dragged all the way to the car.

The driver wisely got out of the car.

As the door slammed shut, Alexander kissed me without warning.

This kiss was full of icy anger, with no tenderness whatsoever, as if it was simply an outlet for his

frustration.

I was kissed so fiercely that I couldn’t catch my breath. My wrist was held painfully by Alexander, and my chest felt tight, as if I couldn’t breathe.

It was as if his pain was slowly transferred to my heart through this kiss.

I panicked and said, Mr. Whitmore, not here

Shut up!

He snapped, and his movements became even more violent.

I fell silent, gritting my teeth, not daring to make another sound.

Pain and discomfort alternated, twisting my heart, as I told myself through the sobs I swallowed down that everything I received had a corresponding price.

It was fair.

I closed my eyes and wrapped my arms around Alexander’s neck.

Perhaps because of my obedience, Alexander’s actions gradually softened.

At the end, he leaned down, placing soft, steady kisses along my neck. His hoarse voice whispered

in my ear.

I love you

My heart trembled, and I heard Alexander softly whisper next to my ear, Vivienne Ashford.
