The Deadly Assassin Robin novel Chapter 1367

The room's atmosphere shifted, tense and strange.

Robin rose slowly and stepped toward Hacyon.

He stared down at the proud girl before him.

"Which of your eyes saw me as one of the Lightborn Sect?

"If I had any other choice, I'd never waste time in a dump like Netheris!"

"W-what did you say?" Hacyon was confused. "Who are you?"

She instinctively backed up.

Robin sneered and pressed closer to her. "I used to be a legend, unmatched across an entire world. Your petty tricks aren't even worth my time!"

He had sensed eyes on him since entering Hunderra.

Only when he arrived at Varryn's home did he figure out who it was—Varryn's daughter, a naive girl brainwashed by the Dark Syndicate for a decade.

Hearing Robin's confident tone, Hacyon gave a cold smirk.

"If you're not from the Lightborn Sect, then what are you hiding?

"Why did you get close to my father and brother? What's your goal?

"Now my brother's acting just like him—stubborn and misguided. He's headed down a dangerous path.

"I won't let another follower of the Lightborn Sect get anywhere near them. Don't even think about dragging my brother into your mess.

"Do you know why I brought you into the Ninth Syndicate? I don't trust you. I think you're trying to get close to my father and dig into the secrets of the Crownward Syndicate.

"Once the Martial Arts Tournament is over, you're coming with me for questioning.

"If you're truly one of the Lightborn survivors, then you'd better start praying now.

"There are plenty of stubborn souls trapped in Soulforge Tower!"

Hacyon's eyes filled with killing intent. She wasn't just mad—she truly hated the Lightborn Sect.

Robin smiled indifferently. "I wouldn't mind seeing Soulforge Tower for myself. Maybe my soul can outlast the ages."

Hacyon scoffed. "Let's see if you're still talking like that once you're inside. I hope you can keep acting tough.

"And don't try to mess with my brother.

"He's coming with me to the Ninth Syndicate for training. One day, he'll give everything to Netheris."

Robin laughed lightly. "Things won't go the way you want.

"If the day comes when your idol crashes from his pedestal, maybe then you'll realize how blind you've been.

"Your brother isn't going to turn into a puppet like you.

"You don't think for yourself. You've lost who you are. You're just following orders without knowing why you exist."

Hacyon turned cold. "I don't understand what you're talking about!

"Arthur is my brother. I know him better than anyone!

"You're just trying to turn him against our great Dark Syndicate! Dream on!"

Robin saw no point in continuing a conversation with someone who'd never understand.

Hacyon was nothing more than a puppet, blindly following orders.

Saying anything more would be pointless.

Hacyon raised an eyebrow and glanced at Robin.

She felt the same—she had no interest in dealing with someone she found detestable.

"I won't kill you yet. Not until we confirm who you are.

"My father warned me not to touch you. Just don't give me a reason to ignore that."

"People aren't buried under rules and chains. Everyone's treated the same.

"As long as you stay within limits, you can say or do what you want.

"No one stops you. You can just live how you like.

"It's warm and safe—completely different from the sadness and pressure here in Netheris.

"Is that true, Mr. Ramsey?"

In the vast universe, each life might be small, but the hope for something better never faded.

Robin gently tousled Arthur's hair. "One day, Netheris will become what Archmage Varryn dreamed of. You'll see."

Suddenly, a sneering voice called out from outside. "Hacyon's suspicions were right!"

Two ugly women stepped into the room.

They glared coldly at Robin. "You're spouting nonsense!"

One of them, tanned-skin, short, heavyset, and rough-looking, stared at him like he'd committed a terrible crime.

"Netheris is at its strongest under the Crownward Syndicate! We won't let you speak against it!

"Only after the Crownward Syndicate came did we learn how to wash away the guilt of our past lives!

"The High Pontiff showed us the road to true joy.

"We must suffer now so we can be rewarded in the next life!"

Robin snorted. "If you choose to live like an animal now, what makes you think your next life will be any better?

"Only fools believe that kind of nonsense."
